Is my memory correct but wasn't Bates part of the Glenn Braggs for Ron
Robinson trade with the Reds?  I vaguely remember Bates serving as a
pinchrunner in the Reds-As World Series.  I think he scored the winning
run in game 6 on Joe Oliver's infield single.  Does anybody else remember
this or was I just dreaming the entire incident?

You're right about the trade.  He was sent to the Brewers with Ron Robinson
for Glenn Braggs.  I'm not sure about the World Series pinch-running thing,
though.
