So I was thinking, what do the Royals need to address in this years
draft to help the organization head in the right direction? Pitching,
position players, coaching? As I was sitting there on draft day
watching the draft on MLB.com, I could not believe what I was seeing.
Aaron Crow was still available. What were the chances of that
happening? Slim to none I thought. When it was finally announced that
we had picked Mr. Crow, I could not believe. What a slam dunk for the
Royals organization. We could not have done any better in this draft
unless we picked up Mr. Strasburg. The Royals are thin in good, young
starting pitching. Mr. Crow will definately help in this category. I
know we have Hocheaver, Bannister and Davies but the jury is still out
on all of them. We need help and we need it now. Mr. Crow will do
that for us.

As I am sitting there, overcome with joy over the drafting of Crow, I
go back to the internet to check on who the Royals drafted with their
next pick. Well what do you know, they did it again. The Royals
managed to pick a player they were considering drafting in the first
round. Although Wil Myers might have been a bit overvalued at number
12, he is a steal with the 91st pick in the draft. Touted as one of
the purest hitters among highschool players in this draft, Myers is
also a cather, which we desperately need. Olivo, Buck, need I say
more!

The Royals had an awesome first day! Hopefully things continue to go
in a positive direction for the Royals during the rest of the draft.
