You tell me, if you are that hammered at 6 in the morning, there is no way
you feel fine that night. Then he goes and lays an egg that night. Sorry,
this is someone who could give 2 friggin craps if he wins. The whole
domestic violence thing aside, which you can say is private and all that (I
will give you that) but I think it's fair to comment on something that
directly relates to the game and nobody will convince me it didn't. And now
it will be the big distraction and he will have that as an excuse tomorrow.
I will never root for him the same. I guess he is OUR Manny, plenty of
talent but no brains. Thanks Mr. Cabrara for putting yourself ahead of the
team. Pretty sad.

I feel the same way about Mr. Kirby Puckett. There are too many
allegations of him committing violence against women and/or sexual
harrassment that I just can't picture him in the same light as before.
They had a moving tribute to Twins players and the Metrodome after
Sunday's game (it was supposed to be the Twins saying farewell to the
Dome, but there is at least one more game there, and possibly 10 more)
and of course the praise and platitudes were flowing for Puckett. I
just can't quite feel the same way about him as before.
Contrast your feelings for Cabrera with Packer's fans praise for Max
McGee, hero of Super Bowl 1, who played with a hangover. Perhaps we've
come long way in our society's attitude towards drinking?

Same here. Puckett was a great Twins player, no doubt, but the
antics in his personal life really tarnish his standing as a "hero",
like many fans make him out to be, IMO.

Yeah, I always liked Puckett and really respected him for not "going for the
money" and staying in Minn. But after all that I read, I kind of crossed
him off my list (yeah, I am sure he was hurt.).
I just can't get over that he would go into a game altered (as in hangover)
like he did. They were commenting during the game why his swings were so
weak. Well, I think we know. Just bums me out.
