Some Good Tiger News

First I'm glad Jim Leyland's contract has been extended by 2 years. He
is the best manager the Tiger's have had since Sparky Anderson.

Secondly, with Bonderman and Willis on the DL we were wondering where
that 4th starter might come from. Apparently, hidden away in AA ball,
was a Fernando Rodney home boy cousin by the name of Alfredo Figaro.

The kid skips AAA ball and made his MLB debut yesterday and fans 7,
gives up only 2 runs and only walked 2. He certainly has a bit of a
strange delivery looking like he's going to fall off the mound as he
throws the ball, but it certainly is effective. That effectiveness
could come from the hitters having never seen him before, ala
Galarraga his first season. Too bad Ryan Perry doesn't seem to have
Figaro's command. He damn near gave away the large lead the Tigers
had and probably would have if not for Leyland's hook.

The minor league book on Figaro basically goes if he's on, he's very
good but he's off he's horrible. No middle ground for this kid which
is probably what Porcello has over him. However, I'm interested to
see how well Figaro does in this next start.
