I wonder if either team will have anything left for today's (7/4)
afternoon game?

Tigers replaced rookie pitcher Figaro with rookie pitcher French and
Luke did a great job. In fact the entire Tiger bullpen did a great
job for a change. Even though Dolsi tried to lose the game, Tigers
found some offense and pulled it out.

Good win, now let's get two more!

Was out last night so I missed it, but it looks like the kid French
did OK for his first outing. Miner did his best to give the game
away, but luckily the rest of the bullpen looked pretty solid.
Slowey had an unusually bad game last night for the Twins.

Sounds like I missed a good (and long) one. Good win for the Tigers.

Today's game has me the most worried, as a Twins fan, because
Jackson is pitching so well this season and Liriano has not been
doing well (although his last win was impressive). This is the game
I figured the Twins might drop, but after losing last night they need
to come up big in this one. Looking forward to it today.

I'll be at the game tomorrow with some of my veteran friends (it's
Armed Services Appreciation day, so tickets are free). Looking
forward to seeing what Porcello and Blackburn can do tomorrow,
too.

And look out for the ChiSox, they are really coming on strong lately!

I doubt Mauer will catch after playing 16 innings. Redmond is hurt,
that leaves rookie Morales.

I thought the umpire was giving the Twins pitchers the low strikes and
not giving them to the Tigers, esp. French.

Dolsi was flat out tired and out of gas, but he poached a win.

Nice game by both teams and starting pitchers. "Quality
starts" by both starters and just enough offense from both
sides to keep things interesting.

The ChiSox lost today, so things continue to tighten up in
the ALC heading into the break.

Should be a good game tomorrow. Glad things are tied
up in the series.

Yeah Jackson and Ordonez did their jobs for the Tigers but Lyon, the
Tiger relief pitcher, sucked! I know Jackson was up over 120 pitches
so they did need to get him out in the 7th. Bullpen couldn't hold it
though.

Oh well, today (7/5) is another day.

And 7/5 was another loss.

And 7/6 was another loss.

Oh well, today (7/7) is another day. And with Verlander pitching
against Chen, the Tigers *might* pull off that win.

Although, it's fun seeing the ALC tighten up like this. Looks like
it could be another 3-way race in the second half.

Verlander was a little shakey early but recovered nicely getting 11
strikeouts and the Tiger bullpen pulled itself up and didn't allow any
runs either.

Polanco, Thames and Cabrera got great hits and Adam Everett managed to
get two walks and scored on both to make Bruce Chen's day no fun.

Now today (7/8) we'll get to see Luke French again. Hope the home
opener for him doesn't add too much pressure.

Tigers got a 2 game lead over the White Sox and 2.5 over the Twins.
Probably wont change much before the All-Star break which will make
for a tight second half race.
