* Danny Richar - reinstated from the DL, then outrighted off the roster. He
elected to become a free agent.

* Kevin Barker - also let go to free agency.

* Darnell McDonald and Corky Miller outrighted off the roster.

* Justin Lehr signed to a 1-year contract and outrighted to Louisville.

* Jose Marmolejo (pitcher on the Reds' team in the Dominican Summer League)
suspended for 50 games (use and possession of PED).

* According to the Reds' official site, the team declined the $8 million option
on Ramon Hernandez and will try to negotiate a new deal.

* Also according to the official site, the Reds talked to the Brewers about J.J.
Hardy, but the Brewers didn't want to trade within the division. From this we
can deduce that they're looking for a regular shortstop who can hit a little
better rather than simply handing the position to Janish.

No news on the (sarcasm alert) urgent mission to re-sign free agent pitcher Kip
Wells. Nothing new on the situation with Gomes and Nix either.
