Marquis usually looked much better in the first half of the season than in
the second. Let's wait awhile before judging.

That said, he was a decent number 5 starter who ate innings. However, there
was, and still is, no place for him on the Cubs. Their one strong point has
been the starting rotation.

I don't know. They probably would have used him ahead of
Marshall and Wells. The problem with dumping Marquis is that the
Cubs got nothing for him. Actually, they got less than nothing
because they are having to pay Vizcaino after releasing him.
They may be paying a portion of Marquis' salary in Colorado as well.

Geeze,
You gotta lighten up just a wee bit. Everything you have posted this
year seems to be complete gloom and doom. It has been tough in some
regards, but try having discussions, and it might help get you out of
this rut =;-)

G, There's something you probably don't know about TOG. He and I are
Buffalo Bills fans. Wouldnt you be negative going into a baseball season
when you have just endured another bad Buffalo Bills season only to have the
owner rehire Dick Jauron?

Ah, I had no idea... my condolences.
I have long had sympathy for Bill fans ever since I saw Jauron went
there.

Isn't Chicagoan and former Bill's coach Marv Levy also associated with
the team?

The Cubs ended up saving around $4M by dumping Marquis, even with the
release of Vizcaino. Supposedly, they needed that money for Bradley.

I don't miss Marquis. He's a mediocre pitcher who's having a good first
half. Wells has more than adequately taken his place in the Cubs
rotation.

Good coach and class guy who was blessed with some really great players. He
was the coach for the 4 Super Bowl years. People make fun of those Bills
and call them "losers" because they lost each of those Super Bowls. But as
far as I know, no other team went to 4 *consecutive* Super Bowls (And the
AFC was not like the 2009 NL Central).
