Based on game logs from Retrosheet.org, the Cubs
never went wire-to-wire ever!

Some teams that did go wire-to-wire are:
1902 Pirates
1903 Pirates
1904 Indians
1955 Dodgers
1984 Tigers
1990 Reds
2005 White Sox

When I have some time, I write a program to find
all the teams that did go wire-to-wire.

The Sox are playing very good baseball this season! Can we quit posting
about what the Cubs have not done in their career and focus on the
achievements of this team?

I know that all of these anti-Cub posts are probably in response to Alsip
and his many pseudonyms continuing to post here, but can't you guys just
ignore or block that stuff and celebrate the White Sox?

Not to point you out Dick, this is just the most recent example. All of
these posts about the Cubs and the weakness of the NL are pretty irrelevant
to what the White Sox are doing this season after interleague play ended
last Sunday night.

The NL is incredibly weak again this year. The Cubs haven't done anything
for over 99 years, and their 100th anniversary will happen this year no
matter what they do this season. Can those be the final words on those two
subjects?

Hard to believe it is nearly 10:30am Friday morning after another amazing
White Sox performance, and nobody had time to mention Pierzynski's great
walk-off shot, the fact that we swept the rival Indians into last place and
probably the seller's market, or the fact that we beat up on Sabbathia
(sp?), one of the premier AL pitchers who will probably be traded to a NL
contender in the coming weeks?

Instead, the majority of the posts are Cubs related. Let's move on!

How happy life would be, for you, if Major League Baseball had
actually STARTED in 1902!

But, we all know that it didn't.

The Cubs lead from the first game to the last in 1876, finishing with
a 52-14 record. In that year, they became the team that won the FIRST
MLB game EVER, and they became the first Championship Baseball team in
the History of Planet Earth.

Your retrowhatever is clearly mistaken. My guess is: Written by Black
Sox fan.

Wrong on all three counts. Why should I be surprised?

On May 19, 1876, Boston beat Chicago and Hartford
beat Boston. This gave the Hartford Dark Blues a
record of 9-1 and Chicago a record of 9-2. Chicago
was a half game behind Hartford. While standing
was not based on WLP until 1883, Chicago was listed
in second place. However, Chicago tore up the NL
after that day.

The first game of the 1876 season was won by the
Boston Red Caps over the Philadelphia Athletics on
April 20, 1876. No other teams played until April
25, 1876. The first organized Baseball game was
held on May 4. 1871 when the Ft. Wayne Kekiongas
beat the Cleveland Forest Citys by a score of 2-0.

While the Chicago White Stockings did win the pennant
in 1876, the Philadelphia Athletics were the first
pennant winning the 1871 season.

Also there was no recognized Championship until 1884
when the Providence Grays of the NL defeated the
New York Metropolitans of the American Association.

You are a tragic person. You lack both civility
and integrity. This is the last time I will
respond to anything you post.

You summed it up so well with the troll "... lack both civility and
integrity." There is no civil discourse with him. Catch him and call
him on his frequent errors and he simply turns to vulgar personal
attacks and drops the point entirely.

The Chicago Centurions are having a good year, so far, you'd think
he'd enjoy that as a good season for them happens so infrequently.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY CUBBIES!
Wear that cap with the Roman numeral with pride!
