OT question free newreaders

Can anyone recommend a great free news reader? I'd like to be able to
filter out cross posts, and the like. Windows Live isn't even as good as
OE. At least in OE you could plonk quite a few undesirable posters by
setting up rules. If there's a better way to plonk and filter on Windows
Live other than right clicking and sending poster to the blocked / junk
please let me know I'll be all ears... er um eyes

I've found you must go to "message rules" under the "Folders" tab and enter
the name of the offending party. I copy and paste the name from
"properties" from the right click drop down menu of a message. You make a
new message rule for each poster you wish to killfile. It's a PIA and I
figured it our through trial and error.

I realize $30 is not free but I have used Forte Agent for a couple
decades now (they used to have a free version). Their newsfeeds
service is cheap and good, but I only subscribe to the text
newsgroups.
