Boston is getting money back which also helps in regard to the luxury
tax.
That's a good idea.....
It is a little curious that Theo stressed defense so much and the Red
Sox are one the more extreme fly-ball teams in the league. ....

Weak LF bat.

I don't care much for Cashman but I will give him that he tends to pay or
over pay players until they aren't useful anymore. I believe Wang's goose
is cooked and I'd still rather see Bedard or Sheets as a flier.
Kudos to the "Big Unit" for a prolific career. He'll probably be go
down as one of the 5 greatest starting LHP in the history of MLB
(along with Grove, Spahn, Carlton, among others)...
Is the offense any better if Cameron plays left and Ellsbury center?
Whether they need more offense is a question, but switching Ells and
Cameron has nothing to do with that.
What big bat? Someone in mind? You need a trade partner that wants what
you're offering.
Cabrera and Adrian Gonzalez haven't gone anywhere to the best of my
knowledge.
As Mick sang...you can't always get what you want...
I bet you know how the rest goes.

That's not the point, the point is that if we have a viable CF option then
we shouldn't settle for Ellsbury in LF if we can add power there.

I agree, that makes Ellsbury expendable. They should get something while
they can for him. Weak hitting LF's aren't very valuable on the trade
market.
I think it would be tough to make the case that Ellsbury doesn't have
substantial trade value.

Except that Ellsbury isn't weak hitting LF'r.
And they wonder why guys aren't always "team" players.
Well since you insist on this foolish twit talk I have no friggin' clue what
it is YOU'RE referring to. No way to converse properly.

You are correct, according to ESPN only 31 LFs had more HRs than him.

I agree Cameron should play CF if they are both here, and if Cameron were
not here I'd be happy with Ellsbury in CF but since they are both here and
they have some CF prospects I'd rather see Ellsbury traded in a package
while he has some value for a middle of the order bat.

Oh, hitting HRs is the only thing then.

They don't have any CF prospects that can play this year or next.
Ellsbury has value for this team even if he isn't a power hitter.
"Gary" <golfe...@comcast.net> wrote in message

Yes since my whole point is that Ellsbury is weak and that I wanted to see a
power bat in LF.

And they don't need one this year or next, they have Cameron.

Everyone has a degree of value and everyone can be upgraded.

I wasn't trying to, in a couple of years though when he might just be
another Podsednik he won't have much value.
