When is Youk scheduled to return to the lineup?
Pedroia's walk ratio is much better so far this season. However after
hitting a HR in his 1st PA of the season, he is still waiting for his
second. Expect a 3rd consecutive top 10 finish in the batting average
category and well over 100 runs scored despite so far hitting in front
of a black hole in the lineup.
Bay is doing it all including 28 walks in 31 games, a 146 BB pace to
go with his pace for 47 HR and 172 RBI.
Lowell, Ellsbury, Green and Baldelli all have considerably substandard
BB rates. It is of most concern for Ellsbury, because his value as
leadoff man is held down by only 7 BB with126 AB. Green must have a
few HBP to have a good OBP despite only 2 BB to go with 73 AB.
JD Drew is only hitting .250, but his .373 OBP is quite good and his .
489 SLG is very respectable.
Varitek is hitting a strong .226 with a good number of walks and 10 of
his 19 hits for extra bases.
One little fool wants to dump on Bailey because he isn't doing great
after 31 at bats. Go for it if you wish, but as .194 BAs go, his is
good with a .324 OBP and a .387 SLG. If he puts a modest 4-9 run
together, he jumps to .250 rather quickly. He is not expected to do
great, he is expected to be a good bench player and he really is only
a few hits away from that. He has a .711 OPS.
Rocco Baldelli has a .713 OPS in his limited playing time. Rocco is a
career non-walker.
Sadly Ortiz' SLG of .319 is not a misprint.
Kotteras is not impressing, but he only has 26 ABs.
Carter can hit, but can he do it off the bench? He got sent down after
a mere 0-5 off the bench. What really hurt him is 4 of those 5 were
strikeouts.
