# Mike Lowell's knee is feeling better. He should be running at full
speed in a couple of days.

set in, or do they just mock announcers & calculate win expectancies?

# I can't put Mays on the team because he only really had 5 years in
NYC. Likewise, Seaver was probably best P, but Matty was here longer.

# It may be the end for Doug Mientkiewicz, who won't make the Dodgers'

He sure was. If he retires, I think he should move to Eyjafjallajokull in
Iceland (where the Volcano is).

Unfortunately, will we be able to tell the difference?

When ESPN did the best home grown players for NYY, the put the Mick
ahead of Joe D. I agree. Mathewson only pitched for the Giants AFAIK.

@McDuck: Oddly, the NYC teams have not been that strong in LF, but are
loaded in CF. I think it's fair to move Mantle to LF & include DiMag.

@McDuck: This was inspired by a local cable series on all-time NYC
team. I'm curious to see if they end up like mine--nearly all Yankee.

@McDuck: Mathewson went to the Reds as manager in 1916 and pitched one
game for them, beating old rival 3-Fingered Brown (only non-NYG game).

@McDuck: Matty was originally Reds property, traded to NYG for holdout
& future HOFer Amos Rusie. Wins for new teams: Matty 372, Rusie 0!

@McDuck: One last Matty story: He played in very 1st season of NFL, as
FB for Pittsburgh in baseball offseason, before McGraw made him stop.
