Heard during the Celtics half time that the Red Sox made him a contract
offer. Why in the world would the Red Sox be trying to sign Matsui when
they have yet to sign Bay? Red Sox should be trying to sign Bay first he
should be their #1 priorate. Bay is younger has more years left then
Matsui who is older. I'm tired of the Red Sox going after too many older
players who are a couple years away from the retirement home.

You got to be kidding, right? Then again, I wouldn't put anything
past Epstein. Nah, this has to be wrong.

Some of Theo Epstien's decisions sometime have me scratching my head as
if to wonder why? Sometime i wonder if Theo is secretly working for the
yankees. How do we not know if Epstien is a Yankee spy in the Red Sox
front office.

Of course go ahead and call me crazy for suggesting it.

He is according to one website i searched on the net from New York.
Brooklyn if i'm not mistaken. Even though he currently lives in Mass.

That can't be right. Must be a negotiating ploy by Matsui's agent,
knowing the Yankees couldn't let him go to the Red Sox. I can just
see the reaction to him hitting a game winning home run against the
Yankees. That would look great for Cash.

Matsui would be okay in Fenway's left field - it's the other 81 games
that would concern me out there.

Unless they are going to cut bait with Papi - pass on Godzirra.

Matsui can't play the OF as his knees seem shot. That is why he was a
DH all year for TEE. Granted, he got the MVP in the WS. Something
Ortiz wouldn't get because he would choke like Ryan Howard did.

I'll call you crazy anyway. First of all for paying any heed to this report
from a Japanese source.

But you have said much crazier stuff over time.

Wrong again. Per usual. He was born in NYC but raised in Brookline and is
a lifelong Red Sox fan.

I have seen no such rumor reported but I don't discredit it though
because it would make perfect sense...

But I guess I am one of the few that wouldnt actually mind him being
signed as long as he was not an everyday player. He is no longer
capable of playing outfield and I dont want him in the Sox outfield. He
is however a good hitter and a CLUTCH hitter which is something we
could use on offense. With Ortiz being the way he is and Lowell being
the way he is, I don't see why Matsui couldnt get a few starts a week
and from there you just go with the hot bat.

I still think BAY needs to be signed. This better not be a "Fuck Jason
Bay, Let's sign Matsui" move because I will be very pissed off. This
move is great and will be a nice storyline vs the Yankees. I mean they
got Damon and he won a championship there so Matsui was a big part of
their success and it would be nice to have him apart of a championship
and even better if it's over the Yankees in the ALCS.

I hope they do it as long as they sign Bay too.

I simply have no interest in another 35 year old declining
slugger...especially one that has never been particularly renowned for
defense. If we didn't already have two guys like that in Lowell and Ortiz,
I might have some slight interest. As it stands...I have
none...zero...zilch...whatever the Japanese term is for it. Same goes for
Damon. And please don't tell me how easy it is to play left in Fenway.
First off, that's oft overstated...but there is also the matter of all those
road games.

Damon's looking for a 3 or 4 year deal, according to his agent Boras.
So forget him, even for 1 year at $9-11 million.

It would make no sense, especially if he can't field. We already have
a left-handed DH getting $12M. they aren't going to carry two DH's who
can't field, especially for big bucks.
