Really my only complaint...though I understand it...just once I'd like a
player to include in his list of reasons he chose the team he did, the
millions of dollars that team was ready and able to cough up for his
services. It's not like NY fans couldn't appreciate that. Good luck.
Amen - except I don't think an employee is obligated to tell the boss
he is leaving why he is doing so. It's just thank you very much for
the time we spent together and - see ya. That being said - suppose he
said the Boston fans expect too much every day and are unwilling to
accept an occasional slump and just appreciate the year end totals ?
Agreed, just remind people that Bay didn't leave just for a few
million...and New York *is* closer to his home in British Columbia.

With the Mets pitching staff he may not get much relief.
I read where he and his agent went back to the Red Sox to try and work
a deal before he signed with the Mets. The Red Sox weren't all that
interested by then. However, it appears that while Bay wanted more
than the Red Sox offered, he would have taken less than what the Mets
offered. I am not thrilled with 2 years of Cameron at big bucks.
Beltre for one year is a better gamble.
Just another player passing through; a predominantly NL player
returning to the NL. He was a good guy who filled a void.
Bet he won't soon forget the welcome he received here.
BTT
Cameron really isn't getting big bucks (in a baseball sense).
Once the Sox signed Lackey, it would have taken a real team friendly
deal for Bay to stay.
Cameron will make 10 mil per year. 1M more than Beltre. It's only a two
year deal which gives them all kinds of flexibility. They are very well
positioned to make any number of deals having used none of their prospects.
They decided on a different approach and gave the money to Lackey AND
Cameron instead of Bay, and upgraded the defense with Beltre too. If it
doesn't make for a better product on the field, there will be plenty of
opportunity to make a move before the trade deadline. It's called a
strategy. Theo is playing chess while the Gnorks in the peanut gallery are
struggling with checkers.
