Exactly how did the surge work? You are aware that the past week has seen blood shed and suicide bombings at rates not seen since, well, just before the surge. So on that level, it seems to have been only a temporary fix at best. And when you consider that BUsh declared the surge would "give the Iraqi parliament breathing room" to come to reconciliation, well that's a complete and utter failure. The only thing the Iraqi parliament can agree on is that they want our troops out of their country on a time table and not a "general time horizon."
