Am trying to learn to play one handed without the use of a rail. Anyone
out there have any specific pointers? Thanks in advance.

Find the balance point and use that as a grip spot.

Find the balance point of the cue for your grip. Hold the cue slightly above
the cue ball and slowly lower it and stroke forward.

I suggest getting a custom made 5" cue. Shouldn't cost much.

You obviously don't recognize the skill and talent required to play one
handed jacked up. I have watched some of the top players gamble this way.

Not much to it. Upright stance. Grip at the balance
point of the cue stick. Use the "shove" stroke, i.e.,
no back stroke. Play position for shots that don't
require hard/fast shots. I know an epileptic that
shoots that way all the time; and does surprisingly
well.
