hmm determination of the 7th team is normally kinda iffy. its too dependent
upon the other teams that the 7-9 teams played. it doesnt produce the best
of those three

Well, they could do a third triple quest. That would be the only fair way to
determine it.

then so should every region. if one region has the chance to play more
games for their money so should every other region. just to simply make
things fair.

===> Nah. The extra slot is a result of the South having so many more teams
participating in Regionals than the other Regions.
If the other Regions can fill their tournaments up to the same degree, then
they can have any hypothetical bonus rounds that might happen. Otherwise, too
bad.

This would be a triple quest for the 7th to 9th placed teams to see which of
those three would be the 7th advancing team. If any of the regions other than
the south were to send 7 teams, then yes they should play it too. Otherwise....
why should they play?

How many teams are goung to the south from Regionals this year? Just
wondering because I know of 17 from the North...and I'm trying to
figure out how many they'd send from the north if that was the case..

This is who I have coming to the north...if ya know of any other
teams, let me know, but here's my list of 17:

I think it has usually been about one third representation... so 17 = 6 for
west and 20 = 7 for south seems about right which is what I have heard. As far
as the east goes.... consolation will be very important :)

If they want to make every region FAIR, then they should put Colorado back in
the West, and mone one of our top teams to the East and one the the North..
Then thing will be a little more even and fair =)

How many 7th 8th and 9th place teams from semi's are going to want to play a
triple quest that means nothing, after just losing there shot at advancing?? I
bet not very many will be in the mood to play more games after finding out
there not going to NAC.. just my thoughts..

I'm pretty positive that DG is not sending a team, and I know for a
fact that Mad Heights isn't sending one. The team we were GOING to
put together out there ended up disbanding and splitting up between
Clinton, Westland, and staying home.

By that rationale.... triple quests should be played all the way down to
determine exact placement of everyone.... which would be stupid. If you are not
going to the show, does it really matter where you placed?

I don't think tavas meant anything bad about ya not filling your region.. I
don't know if it's true or not but I think everybody knows South could use the
7th spot.. with 20 teams and atleast 8 teams that could advance from any other
region.. Looks like South will be a region to remember after this year, most
teams ever, most teams ever to advance (maybe) and no doubt the hardest region
ever.. Im glad to be able to say I was there and hopefully advance from it =)

I don't know if this means anything or not, but last year there were
17 in the south and only 5 advanced. From what I heard, if Sunrise
had shown up, 6 would have advanced.

Maybe you have to go up to the next multiple of 3 to advance another
team?? 12 - 14 teams = 4, 15 - 17 teams = 5, 18 - 20 teams = 6, 21
teams = 7. The rules on the LQ website seem to say 6 is the max
though. So who knows?

Alright, allow me to clear things up. The South IS going to advance 7 teams
this year because they have 20 teams attending. I'm sure most of you know the
advancing number is based on a percentage of the total teams participating in
regionals. The East only has like 11 teams, therefore they only advance 4 to
NAC. I believe the North sends 6 to NAC and West gets 5. Should be
interesting.

Judge, would I lie to you? OK, don't answer that, but my sources are firm
since I work there and all. I read all e-mails first hand. It has been worked
out that sending 7 teams is like 35% of our region. My guess is that since the
East doesn't have a lot of teams going to regionals, that the South will make
up for the lack of teams since they have more. I hope that made sense. Later.

P.S. Judge you need to bring your NRH brethren to our lock-in this friday.

Interestingly, if you look at the '99 and '00 NAC, plus all four '00
Regionals, only once was the 7th place team actually ranked 7th after the
prelims - the rest of the time they were ranked anywhere between 4th and 6th
after the prelims.

In an odd way, a 7th team advancement kind of rewards a team that did well
in the prelims but got in a tough semi-final match up. It's not perfect, but we
are talking 7th place. It's not like they'll likely bump someone who had a
legitimate chance at winning the NAC.

That certainly could be, although it adds up to 22 teams (7 + 6 + 5 + 4 = 22)
at the NAC. That's a couple more than each of the last two years. That could
effectively double the population of Colorado Springs!

If Goof's and Heckler's numbers are correct, it could make sense for the South
to advance 7 teams, and the North to advance 6.

7 / 20 = 0.3500
6 / 17 = 0.3529

No, that's not really how it works.

Usually the Region with the most teams sends 6 to the NAC, and the other Regions send a proportionate
number. Last year, every Region had 17 teams. That would have resulted in 24 teams, which was just a few too
many in LQ's eyes. This year, my understanding is that they are planning on sending a proportionate number from
each Region, but without the maximum of 6 for the largest Region.

Goof's numbers make sense in that format.

We had enough players for a C team as well, but decided against trying
to get them in...other than the fact that they were guaranteed last
place in the north (shut up), we didn't think they'd be able to get
their shit together and pay their dues and all that.

Of course that would be based on all 20 teams showing up. Wichita got
screwed one year when Sunrise didn't show and they cut back the # of teams
advancing after the fact.

Speaking of which, I heard the Air Force football team has billboards
advertising their game against OU this season. I know Air Force is located
there, but do that many people pack their football games? I kinda want to head
to the Springs for that game : )

Is that "#20" Sunrise inclusive, or what?

Last I heard, they didn't have but like 3 members, much less a team.
But yeah, had there been a showing by them last year, 6 teams could
have advanced from the South instead of 5.

Well last year, 9th went to Houston, they were a damn good team

like it's been said. There are about 8-9 teams that are equally good
enough to make top 7.

this year
Houston 1-2, Austin, Denver, NRH, SA Embassy, Tulsa, Springs, Lincoln,
Witchita... there's 10 teams

I got $20 on that one :)

lol. no. last year all of the teams that were in the east beat SA 2
(wyomissing did as well). the FIFTH place team at East Regionals beat both
Lincoln and Colorado springs in over all placing. putting both Houston
teams up there is ridiculous. Witchita?!?!?!?! i will give you the fact

True but SA2 had 2 of its players who could not make the trip to Canada. They
were much stronger at the regionals, where they took 3rd place. This year they
look to be very strong again, at SA1.

In the south if a team is stuck with a bad playoff or schedule they could miss
NAC where they might have been top 10. Two years ago SA2 got 7th at regionals,
after losing to NRH and Houston in the playoffs. They went on to get Wichita's
spot and top 5 at NAC. Last year Houston got NRH and Austin in the playoffs.
The south has a lot of talent... I do not know about 10 teams though... we'll
know in a week.

True, but the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place teams in the east got 15th,
12th, & 14th respectively. While Lincoln got 11th, and Colorado
Springs got 13th. Showing that schedule plays a big part in Regionals
and NAC. Plus the fact that 9th - 13th place at NAC were tied in
points, and only 800 points spanning between 9th & 13th.

Lincoln also played the 1st place team in the North, and the 2nd place
team in the East, here is the resulting score:

Lincoln 2,653
Rochester 2,277
Rockford 2,166

Wichita only lost to us in the consolation by 400 points, and in fact,
going into the 3rd game, we were down by 100 points or so to them.

Any questions? I think not

you're right now that i think about it we won't make it out of the south
what was i thinking!!, hey man no hard feelings (from my end anyway)
as for the free 120 , i would be stupid for me to helping your team out by
by sacrafising myself at your alter, I tell you what if we happen to get
lucky and sneak in we will have a "gentleman's duel" just for fun
of course, that way the winner will select the others code name , or if
you like money, name your price that way you can teach me a lesson for
challenging you (pardon me all over the place)so in the interest of solidifying
your claim thaT wichita sucks or is a no talent team can be forever sealed
,you never answered my question though how many times will you tag me!!!!
that is if we by chance make it to colorado spring, (not likely remember)
after all predictions all prove true right , so tell me what your crystal
ball tells you? would you be terrible surprised if i gave you your worst
beating to date even outshining the ones you got when you first started
indulge me ...if you can't answer my question don't bother responding
in the mean time maybe next year ;) sorry for the out burst, i will save for
when we see each other

The donkey would have a differing opinion on that statement. Something
about Wichita's 4 years of humbly bowing to their superior "still
sister-center?" might be appropriate :)

yeah, go figure. thus solidifying my statement of "it's all about how
the cards fall." the better team doesn't always advance in as tough
of a region as the south.

no, as in it completely depends on who you play.

don't worry, we actually care(at least a little bit) this year, so we
WILL make it out of the region. ask anyone in the south about when
wichita plays with heart, they'll say the same. problem is we usually
don't. we just have better things to do than play LQ usually, this
year we actually want to restore our name as one of the best teams in
LQ(like we had prior to regionals 99 when this SQ bullshit got sprung
on us and made us go "who fuckin cares"), or at least one of the
better teams(it's hard to get back to the top of the pecking order in
the south in just one year.) shit '99 in the consolation games we
played in the first game with the worst pack set and won by about 800
points, and 3/4ths of our team took less than 300 shots. I ran around
with my gun holdstered most of the game being a jackass because we
were so annoyed about the tourney in general(and don't think the rest
of my team was trying much harder). We are not a shitty team skill
wise, just the last year and a half we haven't cared(at all) remember
us NOT BOTHERING to go to NAC '99? Hell if corporate wouldn't have
changed the # advancing from the south when Sunrise didn't show up we
would have made the cut for NAC and beat the shit out of your team
last year even though we hadn't played more than about an average of 7
or 8 games in our home center each over the last year.

when it comes down to it though, last year we didn't come out playing
hard enough(because like i said, we didn't really give a fuck...it was
something to do for a weekend), and the South is so good we didn't
make it even though we're a great team. that's exactly my point. we
would beat just about every east or north team with the BAD pack set,
yet we didn't make the cut for southern regionals. i'm not necesarily
dogging your team(except that i'm standing by the fact that we're
better than your team...hehehe) i'm just helping to support the fact
that the south is retardedly powerful in respect to other regions in
overall strength, and also pointing out the fact that there's alot of
talent here that doesn't get represented in NAC because the south is
TOO good for it's own good.

let's go with this, a friendly bet that i'll hold to if these are the
terms:

1) your team makes it to NAC
2) my team makes it to NAC

then:

if your team places higher than mine overall, then i owe you ten
bucks...or vice versa.

if we end up playing each other in triple quest format, it then
becomes 20 bucks for the winning team instead.

immmediate payment.

are we on?

yet you still didnt make it to playoffs. go fig? we beat the two best
teams in the east (westland, rockford), the best in the west (denver), and
the four best from the north (Rochester, wyo, pottie mills, and brampton)

I wouldn't put too much faith in that. It was a good win, but we kind of
suck first thing in the morning. The day before we lost to Austin and Lincoln
in the very first game of the day - but it had to be replayed and we then beat
them both by over 600 points apiece.

Then, in our first game against you and NRH the next morning, it was like
that Rob Schneider line in The Waterboy - Oh no, we suck again! Our average in
the prelims was almost 3150 not counting that game (the highest of any team at
the NAC), but in that game we scored only 1965 (our only game below 2500).
Akron and NRH took full advantage of it (signs of great teams), and I give you
props for that - but then you went and got manhandled by Phoenix and Westland
(kind of proving that beating Westland earlier in the prelims didn't mean all
that much).

(I won't even mention the pack sets)
