Found this on another list. Not had time to play with it but offer it for
what it might be worth.

OS9Helper is a freeware hack that enables installation of 9.2 on
unsupported Macs (anything prior to the beige G3 that runs 9.0.x or
9.1.x, including 7600.) You can learn more at:
