Thanks again Patrick.

A Moment of Perception
Watching the mist with
the loving grasp of a mother,
Touching both lake and
tree with protective cover.
Yet from this view
Another scene soon takes shape,
My life's roaming pattern
Stretches out as landscape.
Looking back a road seen
with perfect perception
Every curve bringing change,
an unending course of imagination.
Seen are the stops,
the dead ends, and the crashes,
the places where life
seemed to rush by in such flashes.
Yet ahead, I see fog
Not of confusion or doubt,
but unlimited potential
simply a choice of a route.
As I gaze at this view
of all I consist,
it dawns on me how much
life is like the mist.
We can choice but to struggle
or walk with great grace,
knowing all we encounter
we can openly embrace,
For with love as our guide
with its wondrous touch,
covering both then and now,
teaches us so much.
What seems as a falter
or a stumble or stall,
is but one more chance
to move forward and recall,
That we can choose to stay put,
and hide in our fear,
or live full of love
knowing all's not as appears.
For its not in the route,
or in the choices we make,
its in releasing all fear
and of life we partake.
Watching the mist with
the loving grasp of a mother,
Touching both lake and
tree with protective cover.
So as life's loving grasp
guides me along,
I know choices I make
with love can't be wrong.

That was a good one Michael. I liked and
enjoyed the images created while reading.
reminded me of days gone by when several writers
would freely share their creations for others to
read and enjoy. Sometimes I wish for a return to
those days, but there's that can't go back thingie
blocking the movement.

Hmm, I don't see anything keeping us from sharing here Jim. I think

You are welcome my friend. This poem has always been special to me.
It was written at the request of someone who had read my works, to be
performed at a show in Ireland. In this show, the poem was read, and
the voice was ran through an (for lack of a better term) audio
synthesizer. I was sent a recording of the performance and it was
quite amazing. Always wished I could have been there in person.

Wow, that your poem is used for a show, that's great! What did they do
with the voice? Does it still sound natural though?

Kath, this is simply amazing that I find this post from you.
I was thinking of you while the NG loaded and WOW there you
were. with so much to say and having been so very busy since
late October I feel as if I could talk 900 words a minute and
not say all I want to. I like to talk :) I was a very pleased
with how the soybean operation turned out this year. I made
enough money to pay off all carry over debt from last years total
crop failure. gave the money to the bank yesterday and was that
ever a load off my mind. also was lucky enough to have enough
profit that I set aside enough money for next years crop.
http://personalpages.bellsouth.net/t/h/theplanter/lime-day.html
I tried a different source for the liming of the land for next
year's soybean crop and the young man driving the spreader truck
was the best I've ever seen at operating a spreader truck. in the
top picture he is spreading at the rate of 2 tons/acre and in the
next picture he is spreading at the rate of 1 ton/acre. the soil
test results tell me how much to put out. the last two pictures
are of the very neat delivery truck reloading the spreader truck.
these people saved me 5 dollars a ton and with total application
being just under 80 tons, I liked that a lot. their trick to saving
money was having the big truck, saved time and highway fuel for running
the little truck back to the source for more lime. lime is applied
and paid for, next year's seed has been paid for and will be delivered
next April and I'm watching the price of diesel fuel so I can get the
best deal on about 120 gallons.
down at the mill we got a little competition going on for [high yield]
and [lowest foreign matter discount]. [high yield] is for who produced
the most bushels/acre and [lowest foreign matter discount] is whoever
brings in the cleanest load.
http://personalpages.bellsouth.net/t/h/theplanter/millticket.html
right now with the .5 FM discount I'm in first place. :) YeeHaw :)
there is no prize, just honor of knowing the job was done well. low FM
is the result of two main factors, first getting the herbicide application
correct and second having your combine setup correctly.
http://personalpages.bellsouth.net/t/h/theplanter/glyphomax.html
I decided last September that I'd like to go back to school and take
some classes, so I enrolled. I'm currently taking two classes, one
in LandScape Design and the other is Ornamental and Turfgrass Pest
Control. this going back to school has been loads of fun and I'm
glad I am doing it. yesterday I learned how to use three shapes
to calculate the area in square feet of any shape piece of land.
by knowing
length X width = area of a rectangle
3.14 X radius squared = area of a circle
base X height/2 = area of a triangle
in farming I'd always tried to keep my fields as a square or
a rectangle so I could easily calculate the area. one acre
has 43,560 square feet. with this new knowledge and how to
apply the different shapes I can now calculate the square footage
of any shape field or lawn. YeeHaw :)
yesterday my neighbor killed the turkey he raised for his family's
Thanksgiving dinner. I tried my best to talk him into killing the
LOUD noise making roster and spare the nice quiet turkey. I told
him fried roster was lots better than turkey, but he saw right
through me.
time to leave for class. Kath, best wishes to you and Cami
always.

I broke my PC too! mostly fixed now.
Kath, if I can pass the test next week I'll be able to apply for
a chemical license. lots of reading and studying to do between
now and next Wednesday. professor says test is 100 questions and
it takes the average student 2 hours to complete. I feel pretty
good about it so far.

one of Yahya's shares about his coming to america and facing the language
barrier caused some deep thought in me about his determination as a person.
I had to stop dead in my tracks to give consideration to the situation of
being in a new country and not being able to speak their language. the
image of being hungry, very hungry, having little money and being unable to
order food from a menu or at a fast food counter caused me to wonder if my
own resolve would have provided me with the same determination used and
deployed by Yahya as he overcame the language barrier and cultural differences
while seeking to find his own place in america. since I've yet to take that
test, I'm unsure of the result. someone once told me, "we each in our own way
will do what we have to in order to survive."
> I'm not sure of my choice of wording yesterday. I'll plead sleepiness.
I never saw the post and therefore am unable to comprehend your
complete meaning. combination of PC problems and the news server
taking a hit may be the culprits.
> Anyway... Congrats on the crop, and the classes Jim! That's awesome!
> Richard III.
thanks Richard. my choices of things to do today are,
finish cleaning out combine, wood working project in the
shop, play with new Stihl hedge trimmer, go shopping at
new power tools store, read and study school materials
for up coming test, go help friend replace worn out motor
in his truck, or just goof off and do nothing. I'm leaning
towards the replace worn out motor because it's such a rush
for me when the new rebuild motor cranks for the first time.
Jim, wishing you get into something today that gives you
a rush also :)
So when is the test exactly? I will cross everything for you Jim but I am
sure you will do just fine. I went to see my dad in hospital tonight again
and he seems a little better and really wanting to come home now. It looks
like he will be having the cat scan tomorrow, but they have said that for a
few days now....so we wait.....hopefully he will come home before the
weekend. Hope everything is wonderful for you Darlin.

it was last Wednesday 12-3, 9:00am. took me over two
hours to figure my way through that 100 question test.
> I will cross everything for you Jim but I am
> sure you will do just fine.
several of us who together formed a study group agreed
to meet at the coffee shop after we each finished the
test. when I got there the group was quiet. no one
could say for sure they'd passed that test. we all
agreed with the wording of some of the questions and
with the way the multiple choice answers were worded
so close that with the least amount of doubt one could
choose incorrectly.
since I was unsure I just shut up and kept quiet while
I waited for the results. yesterday I got the email with
the URL directing me to the web page where my student id
and grade were posted. I clicked on the URL and my PC
crashed. must have had to many windows open or something.
re-boot and got in to see my student id, before I could see
my grade my PC crashed again. refusing to give up, third time
was a go and I got to see a passing grade beside my id.
it was pretty neat how the school set this up. if you had a
passing grade you could click on your grade and be taken to
another page containing all the info already formatted correctly
on the actual application form. we were instructed to print this
page out, sign it and then mail it back to the state agency who
would then process and send back to me the actual license.
the school saved their self the cost of ink and paper with their
grade reporting scheme on the web.

Yep he is home and looking better but as it always is with older people his
health has suffered through this recent episode. We are hoping he will
eventually pick up to where he was but unfortunately he still seems to have
some lingering symtoms if somewhat minor. But at least he is good to go and
out for Christmas.

sure beats the way it was 30 years ago with grades posted on a

of us trying to see what we each got. that was sure rough on the

yes I am! I'm making it a good Christmas. this year I decided
to cut a tree from my land just like granddaddy used to do 40
some years ago. So I walked down into the same location and
started looking the fur trees over. saw the potential in a
nice little 4 footer and with just a little bit of shaping done
with my gas powered hedge trimmer the tree was transformed into
a nicely shaped tree. spend a few minutes remembering granddaddy
and how he and I used to do this together without any gas powered
tools, then I cut the tree down and took her back to the house.
after realizing I did not have anything to decorate my tree with
I decided to make me some decorations. I had some old red and
green file folders so I cut them into shapes and used paper clips
to hang them. I used tinfoil to make some shinny ornaments and
borrowed a string of lights from a friend and with that my homemade
Christmas tree looked complete to me, plus I'd actually created something
that was sitting there projecting a rather strange feeling of hope, love,
caring and just general goodness. not sure yet where all that came from,
but I got an idea and I think it relates to self determination to make
myself happy. I'm probably the best choice for that task anyhow.
Kath, best 2U always,
hugs,
Jim

wow man, I love the real tree experience. Haven't done that with Cami yet.
Must do it next year as we are going to spend it in the mountains with my
brothers family. There will be heaps of people and heaps of pressies to go
under it too. We spent this year at my sisters with her and her flatmates
and many friends (most of which are parentless or broken families and some
from other countries). It was a great day and many kind exchanges amoung
the people in attendance. One of the guys said he couldn't buy gifts but
gave massages instead. That was me for half an hour, almost the best
present I got too. hehe Lovin it! Cami got way too many pressies and what
shear pleasure watching her face as she opened every one. I love Christmas,
I think I am the biggest kid.

I got myself a brand new 8 pound splitting maul. here's a pic :)

I really like this one because of the low vibration
composite handle. I also got myself a insulated coverall
and some insulated boots that don't leak water in on my foot.
very nice. woke up yesterday to snow and a daytime high temp
of 32F. today is scheduled to be another cold one with a low
tonight of 9F. warm clothing is a good thing.

I'm glad granddaddy did the tree cutting with me. much created
from that experience that has lasted a long long time. a good
kind of sharing that keeps on sharing. family love is like that.

sounds like a great get together with lots of love to be shared
by each. those are the best kinds of groups to be a part of. my
going back to school has allowed me to form new friendships with
people I'd other wise never have met. neat how that worked out.
Kath I hope you got to take some pictures of Cami as she was
opening gifts and captured her happy excited sweet smile
