best bang for your buck for a system board
Hi all, The antiquated system board on my Solaris 10 PC is ready to give up the ghost, so what are recommendations for new hardware (system board + processor + RAM) that will work well with Solaris 10 for a limited budget (say under $200)? Many thanks!

Booting x86 Solaris to 32 bits?
Hi Folks: I'm attempting to return to Solaris development after several years toiling in Windows unpleasant shadow. I've installed x86 Solaris 10 8/07. How do I run it in 32 bit mode? I'm trying to use an old Adaptec AHA-2940UW SCSI card so I can run ufsrestore to recover my work, and no 64 bit drivers seem to exist. I... more »

I Can't Connect Using Static IP Either.
Hi Folks: Just installed OpenSolaris 2009.06. I see there is another thread from munchausen who is also unable to connect. I'm not sure it's the same issue so I'll keep this separate. I've been away from Solaris for many years and my system admin skills, never particularly acute, have not improved with the passing... more »

OpenSolaris - Where is /dev/rmt?
Hi Folks: I've just installed 2009.06 x86. I need to pull my files from a DAT with ufsrestore, which Andrew G. said should work on a zfs file system in a post a year ago. But /dev/rmt is empty. Running "tapes" used to populate it. Where do I find the drivers for a SCSI DAT drive? Thanks... more »

Dell PowerEdge 1750 power management tools
I've successfully installed OpenSolaris 2009.06 on the ex-work 1750 I bought recently. I understand Dell provided a set of power management tools for Windows. Is there an equivalent that will work with OpenSolaris?

Running Solaris 10, have a RAID 1 configuration with Solaris Volume Manager. When I boot off mirror disk, I want to confirm I am actually booting off mirror disk, how do I do that? 16x SATA Highpoint Controller
Hi, does anybody know if the Highpoint 16x SATA RocketRaid controllers are supported/working with solaris10 and opensolaris? If not are there any other controllers (for JBOD only) which work fine under solaris/opensolaris? Cheers, Marcus
