We are currently rehosting a small application that sit on a HP ML 370
G2 running on Unixware, there are two box identical both in
application and OS ( unixware ) level. And we use Avnet SavWareHA.
( www.savwareha.com ) to keep the application data current on both
box. One is Primary and other is Standby and this software package
keeps the data current on each box.

My problem is we are told we have to port this application over to Sun
Solaris 10 using HP ML350 G3’s , Does anybody know of a package that
is similar that will sit on Solaris 10 and keep identical machines
( note: this is internal drives, not external hardware,,, Ya, Ya, I
didn’t buy hardware ) data current.

Please note that is SavWareHA is End of Life (EOL ) and only good for
SCO anyway.

Thank
Neal Zierke

Sometimes multiposting is appropriate.

Hi Neal,

You could you do the following :-

1. Install VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org) on your Solaris 10 x86 servers

2. Create a VirtualBox client to run a Unixware instance

3. Use your SavWareHA to replicate to the UnixWare instance running
within the VirtualBox

4. Repeat step three so that Primary and Slave are running in VBox clients.

5. Configure your Slave environment to share data with its Solaris host
using either VBox shared folders or by NFS mounting directories from the
Solaris Host (these connections are virtual network connections)

6. install Solaris 10 on your old servers and use them for porting and
testing.

7. Tested port can be checked on Solaris 10 using live slave data.

Management is happy because new servers are being utilised, backups can
be sped up if ZFS is used.

As aside I managed to get WordPerfect (for Unixware) running on Solaris
2.4 x86 server in 1994, so it was being run by 10 users accessing it via
Wyse terminals. However, for data replication I would use the above
approach.
