I've got the source tarball, but I can't make the disk space to even unpack
the damn thing!

Got an hour or so to burn, beyond download time?
Volunteer to test a binary set, and then it can get put up on
openoffice.org.

Solaris Intel binairy are again being supplied by OOo themselves. They
are't listed on the download page but follow a link to the Sparc
binary and look in its directory for the Intel version. From the
download page:
http://download.services.openoffice.org/ooo/dev_docs/source/1.1.0/index.html
eg, where it offers you:
http://ftp.rhnet.is/pub/OpenOffice/stable/1.1.0/OOo_1.1.0_SolarisSparc_install.tar.gz
look in:
http://ftp.rhnet.is/pub/OpenOffice/stable/1.1.0/
and download:
http://ftp.rhnet.is/pub/OpenOffice/stable/1.1.0/OOo_1.1.0_SolarisIntel_install.tar.gz
All the mirrors that I've checked have the SolarisIntel version.
