Is there such a thing (and where to get it?) or it is OK to use freeware
CD from Solaris 9?

Not to my knowledge.

I have installed gcc off the Solaris 9 CD and that works. So I assume so.

But of course Solaris 10 is pre-release so it is not guaranteed to work
anyway.

The Companion CD from Solaris 9 should work fine on S10. There really is
no depencencies that I have see using it on 47 builds of Solaris 10.
Be intresting if you actually did fined a problem with it.

I downloaded the companion CD and used bunzip2 and now have a file
called software_companion_intelrr which has an icon showing it to be an
executable. I've tried to use pkgadd -d software_companion_intelrr
command but it doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

Isn't that a iso file for burning? Add a .iso file extension if your burning
software insists. (I had to do that to get the Mac OS X Disk Utility to burn
the companion cd for Solaris 9.)

Thanks so much, I'm using Nero and the Sun Site said ISO but Nero
didn't recognize it. I figured it was a mistake. Thanks again.
