As subject.
I ordered something from his web site about a week ago, and haven't heard anything back.
Not even when I e-mailed him.

I hope nothing has happened to him, and that he is on holiday.

Thanks for replying.

I eventually phoned him, and yes, he was away.
He also said that he is swamped with orders at the moment (Lucky person).

I too ordered something from him more than two weeks ago. He answered
me immediately about some technical questions, but then total silence
when asking about the delivery time. I assumed that he's on holiday or
something. It would be nice to have a message on the web site so
customers won't get upset too soon!

I ordered from him on the 27th of June, I have not received any communication from him at all, in
spite of repeated mails to him.
I called him on about the 9th of July when he said that he was very busy and the tracker would go
out in a few days. Still no goods or response.

I appreciate that a one man band can get very busy, but he should stay in communication at least...

Starting to get grumpy....

Me too. Still no response, and it has been one month since I paid him.
Maybe we should contact PayPal for reimbursement?

Ha!
Beat you to it...
Dispute escalated to a claim.
Still no communication though.

I'd go for it if I were you.

He sent me an e-mail a week or two ago. Apparently, he has received
three times as many orders this year as last, so production has slipped
way behind schedule. I guess he's too busy trying to catch up to worry
about answering complaints.

I paid for an item on June 27.
I have not received any communication from him at all. Not even an acknowledgment.
I phoned him once, from the UK, He said that the item would go out in the next couple of days. It
didn't.
I started a dispute with Pay Pal, he didn't respond to that.
I feel that I have no option but to pursue a claim to recover my money as I have no confidence that
I will receive the goods.

If indeed he is snowed under with orders, he should at least let his customers know, instead of this
silence.

Yes. Generally, when a business gets a lot of orders it's a good thing.
More people get hired. More stuff gets made. Everyone gets richer. But
Red Rock seems to be an exception...

Still no response from him to any of my emails. I saw that he has
answered to some posts in alt.solar.photovoltaic recently. Maybe I too
should contact PayPal soon... How's your dispute going, Rick?

I just received a mail from Pay Pal telling me that they have refunded me
my money.

Still nothing from Mr Johnson though, he didn't even reply to Pay Pal to contest the
claim.

Pay Pal only allows you a certain amount of time to dispute the transaction, about
40 days IIRC.

Good Luck.

Thanks for letting me know that there is a time limit (45 days I read
from PayPal). I opened a dispute too since it has been 43 days in my
case now ;-) I still wish to receive the tracker boards though, but
will be satisfied in getting my money back.

I wonder why Duane is shooting himself in the leg with his business.
Bad news travel very fast, and you can't fool too many customers in
this business. I know he is still alive since he is writing to
newsgroups. If I had read this thread before making the decision to
buy from him I wouldn't have bought anything!

I know he has other interests. I don't know if he has other sources of
income. It looks to me like he's drifted away from the solar business.
It's a shame that he didn't arrange for someone to take it over from
him at least for long enough to satisfy customers who had already
placed orders.

This sort of thing often happens with one-man operations. The man
genuinely intends to get back to work before long, but never gets
around to it.
