That's appropriate advice for people in the U.K. and places with
similar climates, where the temperature rarely goes much below freezing
and the humidity is almost always high. But in areas with "continental"
climates, such as north-eastern North America, it is almost impossible
to seal a house too tightly.

IIRC, there were problems with some tight houses in Ontario when the owners
never used the "mechanical ventilation system," eg a bathroom exhaust fan.

A 2400 ft^2 Canadian IDEAS house might only leak 2 cfm naturally.
