I noticed that on Nick's website which contains a selective list of
all his usenet postings, that his last entry was over a year ago. It
looks like he has not been posting on this group either.

Where is Nick?

As do I. We sometimes disagreed, but he was never vulgar or any sort of
troll. Some of his ideas were pretty novel and had merit.

I hope he's alright and just too busy with his projects.

P.S. Yes, BASIC is/was his favorite way to program :-)

It's /still/ one of the very _best_ tools for writing spaghetti code. :-D

Definitely! (code usage) but you can't explain everything via some scrambled
code lines.

He was definitely a thinker and had some good stuff.

Only because you can't get an Intercal compiler easily.

I also miss Nick's posts and hope he is doing well.

I recently came across an idea that reminded me of him. A very
cheap way of making a water heater. Take a roll of black water pipe and a
lot of used two litre drink bottles - cut the bottoms off all the bottles
and push them over the pipe and into each other. Cheap and cheerful but
fairly effective.

Nick is alive and well on

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/SolarHeat/

along with many others who used to be here on usenet. I check both forums, but
there is a lot more activity over there on Yahoo.
