NYT Co. 1Q losses worsen as ad sales plunge 27 pct
New York Times Co.'s 1Q loss of $74.5M, worse than expected as ad
revenue plunges 27 percent

The New York Times Co. fell into a deeper financial hole during the
first quarter as the newspaper publisher's advertising revenue plunged
27 percent in an industrywide slump that is reshaping the print media.
Its shares dived after the results were released Tuesday.

The owner of The New York Times, The Boston Globe, the International
Herald Tribune and 15 other daily newspapers lost $74.5 million, or 52
cents per share, in the opening three months of the year. That
compared with a loss of $335,000 at the same time last year, which was
break-even on a per-share basis.

Don't gloat too much. It has little to do with any perceived
political alignment. All newspapers....ALL...are suffering from low
circulation and ad revenues. In the cite you gave from Yahoo finance
we see:

"Like other major newspaper publishers, the Times Co. is being hit
with a devastating double whammy -- a 16-month-old recession and a
marketing shift that has diverted more ad spending to less expensive
Internet alternatives. At the same time, many people are doing
without newspaper subscriptions because they can read much of the same
information for free on the Web."

It seems that you, like many others seldom read a piece of information
in totality nor with any kind of critical examination.

An Obama Tilt in Campaign Coverage

By Deborah Howell
The Washington Post Ombudsman
Sunday, November 9, 2008; Page B06

The Post provided a lot of good campaign coverage, but readers have
been consistently critical of the lack of probing issues coverage and
what they saw as a tilt toward Democrat Barack Obama. My surveys,
which ended on Election Day, show that they are right on both counts.

The funny thing is that these right-wing morons have no understanding of
basic business principles.

They put up the viewer counts such as:

Fox Noise: 2 million
CNN: 1.3 million
MSNBC: 500,000

and then automatically assume from the numbers that MSNBC is "going
under" (see a recent thread using that phrase).

Of course, using their absurd logic, we can put the following numbers up:

NBC: 15 million
CBS: 13 million
ABC: 12 million
Fox Noise: 2 million

and then inanely infer that Fox Noise must be "going under" for relative
lack of viewership.

Businesses go under when costs/outgo exceed sales/revenues/income. Right
wingers appear to have NO CLUE whatsoever that a viewership of 500,000
must mean that costs/outgo exceed sales/revenue/income, when in fact
nothing of the kind can be concluded.

The point was that *you* attempted to stop me from speaking my mind by
commenting that I responded to something where you were not addressing me.

The point was that this is Usenet where I may comment on any post

That is quite correct and it did, indeed, set you straight.

I get looks that involve sly smiles. Doesn't happen all the time (I

The ladies always want to know my story and that really impresses them
too. I can't tell you how many little notes and business cards with
phone numbers I've had handed to me over the years. Good thing my
lady trusts me totally. She's always flattered by the attention other
women give me. She knows I could have all those other pretty women
but that she is the only one.

As for the leg, when I'm wearing long pants and two shoes most people
wouldn't even be aware of it, although my gate is not a good without
my special spring loaded foot which doesn't work with a shoe.

I'm usually always wearing cargo shorts with the stainless steel leg
and "foot" very visible. Did I tell that I'm very proud of my
injuries.

Loser. We grown ups just realize that regular sexual activity is
just another part of being grown up. Only Jr High school

You must be talking about Rob.

Both of you are pretty pathetic, picking on a guy because of his missing
body parts. You must be Democrats, the party of feeling the pain of
others and laughing about it.

Yeah, many women consider a one legged, one eyed guy a real catch.

The Artist/Muse is a little over 5 foot seven and a half and weighs
about a 125 lbs.

Fat ass?

Not really.

And we live in the city and I'm all over town much of the time.
You're really a moron.

I have friends who were in the military.
I know enough of how it works to know the idea is to break you down
and build you back up the military way.

I told you I didn't care about the wiccan boy thing because it's true.

Does that mean I'm correct about you being inbred?

So maybe all that CO you've sucked in is one of the reasons for your
brain damage. along with the booze and the drugs, and you probably
got picked on a lot when you were in school... for being a dwarf,
that is.

Does it not occur to you that when you walk around broadcasting "I

But then, most of what you do here on Usenet makes you look like a jr
high schooler, so what else is new...

You spend way too much time and effort trying to prove that you're a
big time, super-cool "dude." It only serves to show that even you,
yourself know that you're not.

Your juvenile attempts to compensate for your inadequacies makes
people want to pat you on your head and say, "sure, sure, of course
you do, little man."

It's even easier to desrcibe her when she's about five feet away,
right now.

My brain is fine, good enough to beat you down.

And I'd rather br 5 foot six and a half than a mutant who is missing
major body parts.
