If I say "Jews are bad" or "Women are stupid", then I can be sued for
racism or genderism, in other words, for defamation (libeling). If I
say "Generation Y are good-for-nothing pricks", then the only thing
which could happen to me is that I will hear: "No, we're not". No
criminal persecution. Why is that ?

Some may argue that the anti-defamation law lists misdeads by name;
racism and genderism are among them, but not Generation Y-bashing or
discrimination against Gen Y. However, Generation Y belong to the
group of young age, and as such this may constitute a perjury called
ageism.

Anyway, here is a fresh article, written in lively language by a
Generation X (like me) about how bad the Generation Y is, and what
expects those pricks,

May be in Oz but not here. In the US you can be whatever you like.
Being a racist is not a criminal offense. Nobody can be sued for that.
Forbidden is discrimination based on race or gender but it is not
applied for expression of your personal opinion.

Example1: you can say to your black subordinate: I don't like you
black face, here is your bonus for this year. He can not sue you for
that. In a free country you are free to dislike any face.

Example2: you can tell you black subordinate at any possible occasion
how you like blacks. If he does not see bonus in three years you stand
before the court.

Might be hard for experimentalist to comprehend thees subtleties ...

we live in a totally insane culture... this is how it is. Loopy
thinking.. mixed also with corruption. It ends badly... for the
individual the solution is to develop a bullet proof sense of humor,
or be self employed. Its difficcult for really intelligent people to
have a sense of humor about this...but its possible Ive met a few.

not my path... Id rather say whats on my mind.

it seems you have been out of the office for about 10 years... lately
it gets terminally nasty for anyone that is even complained about by a
dingbat for suggesting that she looks good in that skirt or
whatever...

thats not the case in practice as a rule... if the person complains
that you have upset them on that basis your ass is in deep trouble.

I am in office right now. Everything you are talking about is
corporate overreaction. Most of those cases don't stand a chance in
court. The times of hot coffee from McDonald and Anita Hill type of
tricks are long gone.

I agree... however in ' the court of Human resources' such things can
easily get the death sentence since HR is mostly wall to wall idiots.

florida just passed a law requiring health insurance
to insure children until age 30. Allows "losers" to
stay in parent's basement longer.

Unfortunately, certain corporations go way over the top with such
things. Some of them, for instance, forbid the dating between
employees which already surpasses the most notorious totalitarian
regimes.

wow..thats exciting... thats going to run coverage way up for
employers and drive more of the hiring underground to temps.... it
will help the freelance temps if they mandated that job shops have to
pay health insurance.

Im all for it personally (im freelance consultant)...but not for the
nation,,, it makes us less competitive... a fatal mistake.

I have always refused contracts with companies that prohibit screwing
the secretaries.
