| Subject: Keeping vitamins legal
|
| A controversial FDA enforcement bill, HR 3642, cleared the House Energy
| committee, allowing consideration by the full House. The bill nearly outlaws
| vitamins. President Bush said he'll veto it if it makes it out of Congress
| with the current unwarranted regulations, such as a $1 million fine.
|
| An alternative bill is S 2835, which protects dietary supplements from
| unnecessary regulation.
|
| Opponents of HR 3642 must now concentrate their efforts on communicating with
| their representatives to urge them to oppose the bill and support S 2835.

The bill, S.2835, "The Health Freedom Act of 1992" was indroduced
by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R) of Utah, They will send you the copy of the bill,
a summary and a reference letter to the President upon request.
HR. 3642 vote in committe was apparently split along party lines,
the Demobrats voting FOR and the Republicants voting AGAINST the FDA
enforcement bill.
