Got a "notice of change in benefits" letter today from SSA; came out
of the blue. Apparently I've been underpaid $63/mo this year and am
getting a lump sum in December for the difference. I've been on SSDI
since '03 and my situation and finances haven't changed.

Just wondering if anyone else has gotten one of these.

Nope, but I wish I did and congratulations to you.

Watch out for those. I had one too and it turned out they weren't
paying my Part D like they had been saying, then I got a bill from my
Part D provider. Make sure everything is OK with Medicare before you
spend it.

Holy Vicodin, Batman! I hadn't thought of that maneuver. I'll stay
on my toes on this one, as I'm wrangling with Medicare too....

It happens. I made a change to my Part D provider. They took the last
3 months premiums and refunded them to me. I had no idea what is was,
and everything appeared copasetic. There wasn't a letter or anything,
it just showed up as an underpayment. Then when open enrollment came
the next year, I made the decision to switch back to the original one,
and I had a balance of $-150 (whatever the amount was) so I had to pay
them back but to SSA, everything appeared normal. Had to be a computer
screwup.
