This showed up in another newsgroup that I am a member of. That was
yesterday and when it arrived it had a link to go along with it.
Folks there noticed that there were some discreptancys and voiced opinions
that this was most likely a hoax.
Today the link seems to have been taken off from the message.
I wouldn't put much stock into this OT post folks.

I've saw the headline on a couple of respected computer related
websites. One of them was DSLreports.com or broadband reports.
Not being an ATT subscriber I never read the articles but am certain
they are legitimate.

Well I can't dispute that (or anything factual on the matter). I only know
what I've "seen". No pun intended. lol
What is worrisome to me is wether or not my ISP (which is part of a
co-operative) gets it's feed from this source or not. I don't think so and
will be calling the tech folk to verify.

You can always use Google to access the newgroups

Google groups is an inferior alternative. A lot like going back to a horse
drawn buggy after riding in a Lincoln. :(
But, Yes you are correct. I guess we could still bang nails into wod with
rocks after they take away the good hammers.

Free Usenet servers are available on the net. A big service that only
requires you sign up for a free account and then you can access any text
newsgroup, like this one, is what was formerly motzarella.org, but they now
go by http://www.eternal-september.org/ and it is what we use to read and
post by.

Ya, have used a rock before. Back some months ago I signed up for one of the
USENET sites you were talking about back then. Don't remember the name But I
do remember it was from Italy, slow as hell and dropped posts on occasions.
But you're right, a rock will work when that's all you have.
