They did it for me with absolutely no trouble at all.

IIRC, it took one phone call to cancel, and a mail-in form to
rejoin. Or vice versa.

Unless you are one of us that are not restricted by that time frame. Many
folks who are dual eligible do not have the enrollment limitation.

I never stated otherwise. You are the one who thinks it is
difficult.

Sorry, I don't know much about Medicare. The SSA site lists 64 FAQ
starting here:

http://tinyurl.com/yp6dvh

and this link to CMS which is the agency that actually administers
Medicare:

http://tinyurl.com/ykpphlv

SSA's POMS pertaining to Medicare starts here and there is a section
therein entitled "Withdrawal Considerations."

No I'm not saying duals do not need to follow the rules. I'm saying the
rules are differnt. I get this only from personal experiance.
I believe the cite you are looking for can be found in Jack's reply,
somewhere. If not, I will do this, I'll get the info from the county ss
worker and relay it to you (if you still need it after following Jack's
links).
Others in here can also attest to this, it's not that unusual.

I called my Part D provider yesterday (Humana) and their premium is
essentially not going to change for next year. A couple of bucks....

I was always told if you dropped out, you had to wait until open
enrollment to reactivate the policy. Just my 1 1/2 cents worth. It
would be two cent if I knew for sure.

I know you need the money, but my feelings, regardless of what they
tell you, when it comes to insurance, I wouldn't fiddle with it in any
regard. You know you are going to get 19 different answers

Annual Enrollment in Medicare is Nov 15 - Dec 31 (for those new to Medicare)
General Enrollment in Medicare Part B is Jan 1 - March 31 (for those with

This is SO SO wrong.

Open enrollment for part D is Nov 15 to December 31 for EVERYONE on
Medicare. You have to have part A OR part B.

Jan 1 to Mar 31 is open enrollment for MEdicare Advantage plans, for
which you MUST be on A & B.

Enrollment in Medicare itself is depended on your disability date or
your birthdate [for those enrolling at age 65].

You never should have dropped the coverage. Good luck fixing the

XCUZE ME dumberfuck; the answer is that you shouldn't drop it, you
have to wait til the next enrollment period to get back on, it takes a
simple phone call and may incur a permanent penalty in the way of
increased premiums for life. You're not welcome.

All I know is I wouldn't mess with it because you will be out f
country for a bit. Most countries have free healthcare and depending
on where you are going, probably wouldn't have to pay anyway. The rule
of thumb is not to mess with A or B and only mess with D during
enrollment if you so choose.

Agreed. This is not like parking your car for 3 months and
cancelling your insurance, this is mucking about with the freaking
gubmint. A guaranteed screwup every time.....
