There is a petition opened for signature collection at http://goo.gl/pWb0i to bring back the letter collection boxes (including Express Mail) and stamp vending machines on Maude Ave, Sunnyvale, CA. Those facilities were sudenly removed after USPS office closed down.

If you think driving for 3.5 miles to buy stamp is not environment-friendly, please go to http://goo.gl/pWb0i and sign the petition. Thanks.

You're completely insane.

Collect signatures on a physical piece of paper from nearby residents
and businesses, within a block or two, and hand it to the postmaster.
You need at least 25. These people have to say they'll use the box daily.

The only problem with that scheme is that there is no post master. S/he is gone with the post office that had the letter collection boxes and the stamp vending machine. I have no reason to believe that the post master of the nearest (3.5 miles) post office is the authority to bring them back. I would directly send the petition to the Inspector General or Hotline for USPS.

But you brought up a good point - where does the magic number 25 come from? The petition has already 22 signatures and about 20 of them are local (i.e., within a block).

This isn't a problem for the Office of Inspector General. I don't know
what Hotline is.

A station manager told me when I wanted a 5 pm collection from a box
near my business. But speak to the postmaster yourself to find out
how many signatures you'll need. People must state their address.

An on-line petition is utterly useless, especially soliciting a worldwide
audience.

You would be petitioning for a 5 pm collection box and contract retail
post office. Is there a nearby drug store or convenience store that could
serve as a contractor? They usually won't put a postal clerk in someone
else's store.

The postmaster is at the main post office:

SUNNYVALE
209 E JAVA DR
SUNNYVALE, CA 94089

If the postmaster won't help, write a letter to your Member of Congress.
