"We" just found out about this site. Our site!!!! ???
I tried doing a google newsgroup search and it does
not appear that this topic has been discussed here.
http://www.usps.com/news/online/deals/
Supposedly discounts have been offerred for years
but aside from computers I don't recall hearing about
anything else. Gee, I sound like a spammer.
But really, I just called Verizon and am told I'll be
getting a 20% discount on my monthly bill.
-fwiw
{8-])))
still glad yer around.
I drop in and lurk from time to time.
The Verizon discount only applies to certain plans so don't get your
hopes up. It's not a blanket discount. The computer deals suck
also. But if one doesn't know better, the ol'USPS hook line and
sinker will get you everytime. If they really wanted to give us
some discounts, how about discounts on what we sell?? Like postage.

That "...online..." direct link can't be accessed from the website can it?
There seems to be several pages/links like that - not accessible from
the website - you have to "be in the know" of, or remember what they
are because they're designed toward employees not customers? You
can e-mail me directly if you want (view address and remove the caps)
if you don't want to say here. Thanks.

Clicking on the link will take you there. Think her point was you can't go
to www.usps.com and find the link by searching for it. Another hidden
benefit. ~g~
Yeah, if I click the link
from the original post it takes me to the website
and I see the different links of the listed deals.
What I meant is if you go to the www.usps.com
website and try and find that link I don't think
you can, right? That website, USPSNewsOnline,
(is actually a separate website from www.usps.com )
is by the USPS, but it's not linked from the
www.usps.com website. It's not a webpage within
www.usps.com because there's no ".htm" at the end
of the link. I'm figuring because it's
not information for the general public but instead
for employees. I understand now what I was
wondering about, but I'm probably not explaining it well! :)
I'm thinking the only way I'd know about the
USPSNewsOnline website is maybe if I ran across it
doing a google search and/or I heard of it from, like here.
I also should have known... the P.O. doesn't make
employee information easily accessible! :)
They should have a password-accessible-only portion of
the www.usps.com website for employees, with information
for them, printable forms, etc.. The average person/customer
can change their address online at www.usps.com but us
employees, to change our address within the P.O. for employee
type stuff, we can't do that online from home - have to do it
through the intranet (not accessible for the average worker)
and/or fill out the form 1216 that you have to hope your office
has on file and will promptly give it to you, and/or know a
non-USPS website where you can download it.
So, ....... :)

Be interesting to know who "we" is (since the original post did not show up
here) and what topic has not been discussed on this NG. What stone have we
left unturned? ~g~
I knew what you meant and I am confused! Like you, I am unable to find a
direct link to the site. However, if you start at www.usps.com and then add
/news it will take you to the USPS News page (giving you a "new" link).
Then if you type /online it takes you to USPS NEWS ONLINE "The online news
source for Postal Employees" which does have a link at the bottom of the
page for employee deals.
I only blasted them over the fact that the discount only applies to
certain plans, HOWEVER, the notices in USPS facilities do not say
that. It's a blanket statement that one would take to mean that all
plans are discounted just because you are a Postal employee and that
isn't the case. It's bait and switch. I did manage to get a free
phone upgrade and 100 extra minutes a month since I couldn't get the
discount. If they had listed the plans that didn't qualify for the
discount I wouldn't have bothered.
If that's being "negative" then so be it. It shouldn't stop others
from calling them. It's only MY opinion. I could have received the
free phone upgrade anyway because I was eligible, but not the 100
extra minutes, that was a bonus but I haven't seen it show up on my
bill yet either.

Well we need to tactfully suggest they get it fixed.

As long as tax payers are not cheated out of their hard earned money I
am all for it.
I am all for you attributing your quotes.

Thanks.
I drop in and lurk from time to time.
Glad to see the oldtimers a round and round.
>Be interesting to know who "we" is
The 'quoted "we"' was in quotes cuz me
and my pay-location, plus others on Tour I
as well as Tour II, plus SDOs have never
heard of the deals (aside from the computer
hype that went on a while ago).
>(since the original post did not show up here)
I can't remember what I wrote anyway.
But I did get thru to my cellular provider
and supposedly will get a 20% cut soon.
Kinda like an early out, only different!

1. The tire company that offered a 10% discount to USPS employees or;
2. The tire company that had a slightly hire bid, but offered no
discount.
Employee discounts should probably not be part of a USPS contract.
Opened this cuz I didn't remember replying to prev post. And it seems I was
right, I didn't. So besides f----ing around by cutting and pasting pieces of
several posts to *reply* to, someone is spoofing addys? Oh, right; school's
out. Figures.

I recognize Long Gone from long ago.
Not sure who Rodger is.

okay.

When he was only Recently Gone?
For a long time now. That's the long and short of it.
ROFLMAO
Adam, if you keep this up your reputation of having no sense of humor will
be no more. ~g~
Let us not discuss those mistakes made by a doctor years ago. ~g~
That's what you get for taking a short cut. Next time, take the long
way around.
Why can't we all just get a long?
Get a long how? ~g~

I don't know. When did he first go?
mmm. as in a long neck beer?
I said let us not discuss it. ~g~
