Red,
I just looked at Frenchy's site and I see what you mean. I've only
done a couple deals with the Frenchman over the years but they've
always left a sweet taste in my mouth.

Wow, Mike at Briar Blues a few months ago and now Frenchy. As Frenchy
would say, "A bowl to all of ya, ya sumbitches."

Quite a shame. I haven't bought anything from him in a long time, but
I was never disappointed.

Enjoy your retirement, Frenchy. I'll miss yer e-shop, but at least
you'll still be around here for the blabbin'! ;-)

Well Red, I must say that is very much ON topic for this forum. Every
time I find someone who wants to start smoking a pipe, I give them
Frenchy's page first. This is sad for the online pipe community. I
almost bought a Danbark from him but someone beat me to it. He was very
nice to deal with though. Mr. Tinsky made me a wonderful Pickaxe to
copy the one I loved on Frenchy's page. I wish I had the dough to start
my own online pipe business. I would use Frenchy's as a great template
to start from. This sucks.

I am going to miss Frenchy's shop. I have been buying pipes from him since
the days he was selling only on eBay. He was one of the very best pipe
sellers and I am proud to call Frenchy a friend.

I will miss his website! All I get is a blank page. Frenchy, are you
listening or reading this? All the best to you!

I leave the group for a year or so and Frenchy shuts down? Maybe he
will have more time to critique my songs now. Most of my pipes came
from Mr. French.

Hi Bill,
Here's what he had posted to his site a few days ago:

I know I've been plannin' to welcome new partners on board Frenchy's
Pipes but it's not gonna happen after all. Actually they were just
takin' over because I'd said I was gonna retire so they figured I could
take it easy and they'd take over all the work. Well since the
partnership fell through I'm gonna go ahead and retire and do nothin'
but puff. I just didn't wanna disappear without sayin' what a great ride
it's been. I didn't make a whole lotta dough but I damn sure made a
whole lotta friends. So happy puffin' and I'll see yiz around gang.

So Frenchy's Pipes is no more. Thanks to everyone on this terrific forum
for help makin' it a wonderful trip!

The official word was on the front page of his site on Tuesday night.
He is officially retired. He was trying to bring in partners to
eventually take over the site, but it fell through, and he decided it
was time to retire.

Thank you Frenchy for the excellent pouch you sold me a couple of
years ago. I have used it every day since, and it is my favorite. It
was a pleasure doing business with you. I wish you a wonderful (well
deserved) retirement.
I hope you post here now and then, and maybe I can thank you in person
at a pipe show sometime in the future.
Best wishes!!

I talked to Frenchy this week about the blends including the No-Holds-
Barred), and he agreed to let us sell them on our site
(www.pipesandcigars.com). They should be on the site and available for
sale this coming week.

Well, ... I am sad to read of this news. I just tried to get to his
site and it is just a blank screen. So, I was going to post here asking
what's up with Frenchy's site? and decided to search for any info and
lo and behold, he retires.

Wow. a sad day for me. But I'm happy for Frenchy. If you are reading
this Frenchy, I hope you start posting on ASP again. wishing you all
the best and I hope and pray you are well and happy.

DAMN! That blows! I must have got one of the last pipes from him! I
got an order on the 25th or so of Oct 2009 and it included a freebie
corn cob (very nice design actually!!) plus a big ben viking (with
bone stem) ...liked it so much I wanted to order another today
and....well i guess I and you can't either!!

Hope to see a small store again from Frenchy and even some great free
cleaners ;-)
