Morning Gents ...
Hope you have had a great week. Here is an update on the ASP website
and new ASP Facebook addition.
ASP Website Update 2/11/2012
For the past week we have been working with the new ASP page on
Facebook. The new setup is a Facebook Group that I called ASP
International to distinguish it from ASP Usenet.
Now we have ASP on Usenet, ASP International on Facebook, and we have
the ASP web site. The ASP website can be thought to be connected to
both ASP on Usenet and to ASP International on Facebook. The two will
share everything that is on the ASP website. ASP Usenet and ASP
Facebook have no connection between them. If you make a post on ASP
Usenet it will not appear over on Facebook and, vice versa.
ASP Facebook does not in any way replace ASP Usenet. Facebook is just
a different approach to an on-line forum. Usenet is of older design
but plenty functional, ASP International on Facebook is a newer design
that's more graphics oriented. Several of us are posting on both
Usenet and Facebook.
ASP International currently has three Administrators: me, Jim Murray,
and Jeff Follodor. Jim and Jeff pitched in the first day and have
been of great help. From the ASP FAQ Menu you will now find the
Facebook FAQ that answers some questions about ASP International on
Facebook, including how to join in. This FAQ was put together pretty
quick and will be a few more weeks in development.
We decided to keep ASP International without advertising at least for
the time being. ASP International also has Chat built right in and is
being used daily. With the click of a mouse you can view a listing of
all members and use Facebooks e-mail to send messages to one another
without ever having to use an e-mail address or an e-mail program.
And, by clicking any members profile photo you can go to their
Facebook personal page and see some of the things that make them tick.
In its first day there were over 100 members who joined the ASP
International Group. Currently we have 112 members. Some of the
ASP'ers who were active some years ago are now members on ASP
International. ASP International is wide open to new members.
ASP International also has a coffee mug, travel mug, and a beer stein
available with the new ASP International logo. The new logo was
designed by ASP's Bill Burney. ASP's Jim Murray put together the
shopping experience for the very cool mug. Proceeds will help to pay
for the ASP website.
Thanks to Bill Burney, Jim Murray, and Jeff Follodor for the
successful startup of ASP International.
The website has only had a couple additions for the week, an FAQ that
concerns using ASP International, the ASP February Crossword Puzzle,
and the Pipe Cryptogram.
Future Website Additions:
Heard from Heather Coleman who is in the UK and writing an article on
Clay Pipes for ASP. She's underway with her article and will get us
informed on clays.
An update to Bill Burney's pipe shapes chart that Bill say's will
include photos of actual pipes.
Going to the St Louis Pipe Show and I'll take along my camera and get
some photos to share.
