Good evening ASP!
Here's hoping we all had a decent day and are ready for the weekend.
Now it's a steady 66 degrees and the air is still. Nice evening
overall, and a reminder that I need to get into the garage attic and
bring down the chairs and table.
For now it's a bowl of FVF in a straight no name billiard, algerian
briar smooth with nondescript grain, espresso on the side.
Wishing all a good evening and smooth sailin'....

evening greets Randy, Mark, Paul & ASP. Pleasant clear 55 in Western NY. After dinders, DGT '05 CrownAchievement in old PrebenHolm POY/PCI "brandy" bowl shape, tea/finish reading evening "rag". After checking regular sites & latest e-messages.....to the chats.

Bought the above estate from Marty Pulvers' table at BarryLevin Pipe Expo '87 near Boston. The right shape but mine was stained dark red. Decent grain but not as good as in picture. Somebody had tried to ream the bowl with a pipe knife and gouged a bit of the inside of the rim. For about $30 or so, not a problem. No problem with enginnering and like all my present pipes, good smoker.

Heading for a much chillier night than over the last week. Already down to 57 and heading
lower. So in honor of the cool weather, a bowl of Consummate Gentleman in a Radice Wick
hawkbill, one of my favorite pipes both for shape and smoking qualities.

See you all for the morning smoke thread.

Nice shape, but I'm afraid I'd break that stem being the spaz I am, it
looks fragile there at the "twisty" part. Thicker than it looks maybe?

I like the way the maker rounded the outside of the rim... comfort good.

yes Mr. Random, it is "thicker than it looks". Can see where you might have a concern. If I had the money back then, I'd a bought all the PCI POY items. Some of them might show up now/then on Fleabay, but I don't check out the site often. Thanx for asking.

You sound a bit cranky there Ed, hope I didn't offend, if so sorry, did
not mean to. I have a tendency to hold by the bit when knocking out the
dottle rather than the shank, my bad.

Naw Random, no "offense", 'tho I can be "offensive" if I don't use both my Right & Left Guard! heh. Actually the shank/stem fit is, to me, quite solid. I don't ever knock out the dottle (a few broken cheapie pipes over the years cured me of that), I'll carry a Sheffield pipe knife with me if need to empty the dottle "on the road, same at home.

cheers, Ed
