Hi all,
Any other xmas blends out there that I may try? Tried McClelands and
didn't like it.

If you like aromatics, here are a few:
Sam Gawith: Christmas 2007 (smells citrusy with a hint of cinnamon and
nutmeg - kind of like a fruitcake)
Peterson's Special Reserve: This one changes every year, but in 2007,
it was very "Christmasy," with hints of Rum, coconut, and Macadamias.
Peterson's Christmas Blend (2009 is their first year for this one: I
haven't tried it, but others I know have and liked it).

If you are looking for a non-aromatic blend, you could also try
Carolina Christmas, by Low Country (Smoking Pipes). It is a broken
flake: Virginias, Burley, Cavendish and a very small amount of
Latakia> like any other Virginia-based flake, it could use some
cellaring -- I've had mine in teh cellar for a year, and that has
improved it already.

I cannot stomach the Sam Gawith Xmas 2007!! Wtf did they put into that???
Usually aromatics keep me from getting in trouble with wifey, but she can
into the den the other night and said to get out with that!

I agree that it does take a certain mindset to smoke Gawith Christmas
2007 -- very different from anything else I ahve ever put in a pipe.

However, I do stick with my other three recommendations -- especially
Peterson's Special Reserve 2007. This one has such a pleasant room
note that ladies would come over to me and ask me what it was!
(Happily married, so no foul there). I have three Mason jars full of
this one, doling it out for special occasions.

I was kind of disappointed w/ the christmas 2007 as well. You are
almost better off smoking a clove cigarette.

Your Joking I hope. Is this a formal newsgroup?
If it is I will try to be a little more eloquent in the future.
I didn't mean to offend you or anyone else.
If I did I apologize or maybe I should just stay away either way
doesn't matter to me.

For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who
don't understand, no explanation is possible.

Christ is spelled with an Chi "X" in Greek. It became a symbol of His
name, used even in canonical manuscripts. The original spelling of
"Christmas" used by the church was "Xmasse" or in some cases
"Xtmasse". Sam's spelling could be considered more proper than yours
considering his X in place of Christ was used in the earliest bibles.
It's funny that you would criticize Sam for something as "sinful" as
abbreviating Christmas and then turn around and post something as
blatantly racist as your "Chrizzmus" poem.

Really? I didn't know that. Though it makes sense now that you say
it. I take back my previous post since it takes you too seriously

What he said!

As with kids throwing tantrums, the best course is to ignore them (aka,
killfile in Usenet speak).

For me, Christmas blends are typically aromatics, even though I really
like the McClelland Christmas Cheer series as a single crop VA.

A few blenders bring out annual Christmas blend that're only available
the year it's blended.

Of my own favorite Christmas blends, two that I added to cellar &
continue to enjoy at the holidays (and occasionally as a summer
treat!) are unavailable - Samuel Gawith Christmas Mixture 2006 &
Uhle's Christmas Blend 2007. Just picked up some Uhles Christmas
blend for this year. http://www.uhles.com/ (No affiliation; best to
call them)

But one I just added after reading sterling reviews is Boswell's
Christmas Cookie. Wow! Tastes great, burns beautifully (if you don't
mind a ribbon cut), & has a spectacular room note. Definitely worth a
try. http://www.boswellpipes.com/tobaccoblends.html (Again, no
affiliation)
