well, I put it on my web page last year, before I lost my account.
it took long enough, but it paid off, and someone bit down hard
and tried to figure it out.
the sucker was: TA-DA!!! Brandon J. Freels, who apparently was
distraught that I hadn't actually trolled him and went LOOKING
for a troll to fall for...
I've just explained in alt.surrealism that his interpretation
is completely wrong, it doesn't mean anything at all... and even
explained the history of who was the original intended victim.
you can read all about it in alt.surrealism, under "What is
Analography?" however, I thought I would post a copy of Brandon's
questions here; I especially like the part where he questions "my"
phrase "seeing more intensely" as not being entirely surrealist.
(the phrase actually comes from a surrealist sourcetext. so does
the phrase "beyond documentation".)
=====BEGIN BRANDON=====
It seems to me that the discourse lately involving the alt.slack newsgroup
has grown a bit unnecessary. In all my project was complete: to uncover the
truth about Talysman, and that he is a Sub Genius and a non-surrealist. This
highly explains the confusion that has existed since my correspondences with
him started.
In being accused of "checking up" on people at this newsgroup I have decided
to actually do that, and I have stumbled across Talysman's homepage
(http://emrl.com/~talysman). On this homepage not only did I find a
confession that he is the author of a religious column, but that he also has
mapped out his own "surreal" manifesto called "The Analograph Manifesto."
I will not try and dismember this "manifesto" on a count of my confusing
discourse with Talysman, but will state my ideas without vulgarities. While
some of the manifesto just confused me as to its connection to surrealism
other parts I feel were valid, possibly (the first paragraph seems headed in
the right direction, but things seem to get lost). The idea that bothered me
the most was Talysman's push to go "BEYOND documentation." This draws me to
raise my hand in objection. Documentation is a way of photography in a sense
in that it captures something for examination. Automatism in the first place
was a photography of thought, a documentation of thought. It is a way of
recording the process of thought and imagination. Surrealist art can only be
seen as documentation for the art (the document) is not important, or at
least not as important as what it says. When we go beyond documentation we
drift away from the process (the process is automatic with no blue prints or
plans, etc) and drift into the system, and it is systemization that is an
evil in the eyes of surrealism (am I wrong?). When you go beyond
documentation in the form of art (we are all beyond documentation inside)
you end up with something that places its importance on the art, and that
can only lead to Minimalism (am I wrong?).
I also would like Talysman to explain his idea of "seeing more intensely."
What exactly does he mean by this? If you intensify like a microscope you
are again getting into systemization and control. If you are speaking of
emotional intensity then I might be in agreement (although I am still
unsure).
I would like to hear what others have to say about Talysman's manifesto to
work out the kinks I don't understand.
