I noticed this numbery weirdness when I wrote the first check of the
year today. But "2 Jan. 2010," as I wrote it, doesn't have the same
ring to it.

The check was for thirty bucks which isn't interesting at all, but the
check number for this account was 2774 and those numerals add up to...
20!

Weirdness is wherever you wish to find it, and usually you don't have
to look very hard.
