Anyone know of a skateboarder that's done a 1080 on vert? If not, just any
1080 will do, I was just wondering if it's been done.

no, but there was this thing called a 900, by this one skateboarder nobody
knows about named tony hawk. i'm sure a 1080 will be done in about five
years though.

I did one of my mom's roof in 1973. I invented the battery-powered
hand job machine too.

I read somewhere about some guys doing them off a cliff into the ocean, but
of course that doesn't really count in my opinion at least.

Seeing as Tony Hawk's 900 is a world record, I guess not.
BTW guys, is it right that Danny Way landed the 900 before Hawk but just not
on camera so he had no proof???
BTW, any Uk Skaters heard of Norman Winters???
He's a Birmingham skater who beat the ollie challenge with 47"!!!!!! rather
than the record 44 1/2!!!!
He's really rad but doesn;t have it on video though alot of peeps saw him do
it.
Just thought you'd like to know.

it has a rumor that danny way did it, i read it before but he can't even
almost pull a 720, so let alone 900! btw the 1080 is never going to be done
cuz with a 900 you'll almost loose the count when you're spinning and you
need massive air which even danny didn't get from his chopper jump sowww
btw theres a guy in our town that did like 51 inches ollie, but there is
still not another ollie contest, but if there was one, wainwright will loose
his record totally!

Out.

i thought Tas claimed to have landed one? i remember reading something about
him not being allowed in the best trick contest tony was in, because ESPN
wanted tony to win it.

i can understand what david says about the rhythm. a 1080 is possible, but
it just requires that last little bit of effort. if anyone gets it first
it'll be tony (if he doesn't get too old first). unless some new guy comes
along. when i just jump off things and spin (like a diving board or
something), turning 720 is more like a timing/rhythm thing than a
count-the-spins thing. i can tell when to stop because of how often i've
done it (motor memory is a factor here too). plus i can tell david is a
good vert skater, so he obviously knows what he's talking about.

Hi - you seem to definitely know what you're talking about. How long have
you been skating vert? I'm guessing quite a while

Yes see on Video #1 for the footage. but allegedly he fell off on the
flat bottom. And it was about ten years before Hawk did it. i've no
doubt Danny could and has done it and landed it full before Tony.
also Tonys record is for i think "The First 900 in Competion" or
something like that. Allegedly Tas Pappas also pulled one before Tony
did. I don't think with all honesty Tony can claim to have done the
first 900, not that i think if you asked him he would claim to have
been the first. Exactly who landed one first will prolly be never
known.

but tony will go down as the man who did it first. A bit like Alan
gelfand. i've heard plenty of rumours that he wasn't the only person
to come up with the ollie when he did. but ask pretty much anyone who
invented it and they will say Alan Gelfand. i think a similar thing
happends with many tricks. always hard to say exactly who did what
when and first.

most people reckon both Danny and Reese could have gone up to and over
50 inches. but the pressure of the comp and all that money got to
them both. also the comp was done in a knock out stylee, i reckon
both danny and Reese were pretty knckered by the end. Not that 47
inches isn't pretty fuckin mind blowin.

and as a pointless aside bladers do 1260s on vert.

but who cares about them?

I was at the Vans Triple Crown thing in cleveland at the beginning of June. I
was talking to Mike Frazier and Omar Hassan (i think it was him) walked by and
everyone in the vans booth called him "Mr. 900"

The next day while I was watching the street contest, huge cheers from the vert
ramp came to my ears. A few minutes later someone said that someone had landed
a 900, and then the guy next to me started telling me how Tony Hawk wasn't the
first one to land it.
