President Reagan's portrait placed on $10 or $20 bills or perhaps on the
10 cent coin. WHY! He was not a great president , rather a mediocore
one. In fact, I can't think of any great presidents.
There are a few modern day presidents whose silhouette has been put on
U.S. coins, Kennedy, Eisenhower, but no others. The presidents
following have either been mediocre or crooked or blood thirsty - has
everyone forgotten the Contra scandal and Ollie North? I was appalled
after Nixon was forced to step down from the presidency, after his
death, to hear that state, country and city offices would have a day of
remembrance for him and shut all offices down. These men are doing a
job - nothing spectacular - just their jobs., some better than others,

the dime. Myself I believe that Reagan is just too cheap to be placed even
on the penny. But them as most people just toss the Lincoln penny in the
gutter, it would be no big loss.Hell maybe if that happened I would get me a
piggy bank with a ten pound hammer and every time I found a Reagan penny I
would drop the Regan penny in it and wham.

I'm not happy with compulsory postal voting, I prefer the ballot box,
which is secret. Anything can happen to an envelope.
It will be interesting which side gains from the increased vote, but the
4 pilot schemes were all in Labour strongholds, which is suspicious, and
the other parties will play the irregularity card if there are any close
calls in the results.

present time....
It is difficult to avoid it if you want to see the current news
coverage.
I am quite familiar with his career as I used to go to the movies
qjite a lot....I also read the papers so I know of his political

I can't imagine why it would be of significant newsworthiness in
Australia. It's pretty big in America, but I suppose it is the only thing
happening this week, so the news networks can re-broadcast it for
free, and still get their advertising revenue.
Well, you have my sympathy. Personally, I think these things could
be wrapped up in a day or two. We have been watching it all week.
Much as I like the Reagans, seeing every detail about their life,
over and over, day after day - same details , mind you -- make them
seem like visiting relatives. I was glad to see them again, and I'll
be glad when they leave (grin).

spare bedroom for years. Last year when my brother moved her into a nursing
home near him he took possession of the ashes, not sure what he has done
with them, will likely save them and mix with Mom's when the time comes and
put them somewhere together.

It is on a hill where I walk regularly for exercise, as we used to walk
together and with a dog. Full of memories, and I get fit when I go to
visit, rather than getting depressed in a cemetery.

there is a difference between that and some of the insulting comments
which have been floating around,made by others. and, if so many of the
world leaders decide to attend the ceremolnies,then I feel it would be
more respectful for some of the posters to at least not express such
disdain, and resort to personally insult me, as for instance AnneJ did,
(with support from Gordon of course) by saying something about respect,
and that I wouldn't know it, and making some ugly references about my
past profession. She sounds positively sick. What a shame, when this

I feel sorry for Nancy now, but she will while away her time without
great hardship or money problems, which doesn't happn to most people.
My beloved uncle died recently at the age of 93 from Alzheimers. My
aunt seems to be at peace now. For ten years she took care of him at
home, but didn't have adequate help 24 hours a day so he went into a
care home for Alzheimers patients. At the funeral, I mentioned that
his suffering was now over - her response was he didn't suffer as he
didn't know anyone and didn't know what was going on with him. He was
a mild gentle man, so never developed the mean streak as some A patients
do. He called for his wife constantly even when she was by his side.
She went daily for almst a year to feed him as he wouldn't eat for
anyone else. Then the last six months or so he wouldn't even eat for
her and called her name constantly even when she was by his side. It's
a good thing for the spouses, I believe, when the loved one passes on.
They are now at rest and one doesn't have to worry about them getting
out and becoming lost. Jeanette
