I have mixed feelings about it, there's the worry about dwindling rock
salt supplies, did you see the queue of lorries at the Cheshire salt
mine?

But I don't look forward to the thaw, with horrible slush on roads and
pavements and boggy fields for walking.

Well, it IS pretty when the snow is fresh. I assume you couldn't
get to that important appointment?

I called Mavis to see if she was ok earlier. She has to park her car
on a sloping off-road area, and none of the male neighbours have helped
her clear any snow from her wheel tracks. :-(
She said she was going to B & Q to buy a bag of Rock Salt but I checked
online and they're out of stock of any kind of bagged salt...

I'm sorry to hear that, Val. It sounds like Tony really needs an
appointment sooner rather than later!

My darling man went to top-up the Toyota with diesel and brought me a
bunch of daffodils from the Garage.
Just a small bunch in tight bud, but soon my kitchen will be brightened
up with the blaze of bright yellow daffodils in full bloom. No idea
where they originate from but I am guessing Holland, yet it seems so early.
He wouldn't normally buy flowers from a garage but I am so glad he did.

Cheapskates both!
I buy flowers from ALDI or LiDL and pay as much as 1.99.

Sounds perfect but I know it isn't. Stay safe and warm Val and Tony.

But Gordon, the thaw means we can then look forward to Spring and you
must admit there is nothing to compare with the British Spring.

Which reminds me, we have an Aldi opening here in N. TX in the spring. They
were quite common in the Chicago area, and I can't wait to see them here.

Nope, you're right, nowhere could be as muddy as a British Spring.

I have bought 2 PCs and one laptop from them over the years, and they
all carry a 3 year guarantee. There's a Quad processor PC on offer
for 350 with a great spec, but I don't know what the dollar prices will
be of course..

Thanks Bobbie. I was raised in a household of constant bickering,
backbiting, snide remarks and outright yelling and fighting. I made myself a
promise that when I was grown up, I would live in a peaceful and contented
world. I have achieved that, and it is not always easy...and who am I to
judge others for what they have been through or are going through?

I buy flowers from the thrift stores. They are usually plastic.
But, hey, I can't kill them.

The only flowers I have in my house are artificial, and Mavis has a
house full. I rarely bought her flowers because it caused her so much
hassle to find a vase!

I do believe there is someone who actually has plastic flowers 'growing'
in her garden in the Summer. Sounds like the perfect solution to both
drought and freezing temperatures.

I wonder, silk, or plastic? Lilies or delphiniums?
My daffodils are almost completely out, in the house.

Perfect for graves, of course. ;-)

I have some dafs to bring out in Spring if I remember where I put them,,
but I'll have to dip them in water first.

I think I ought to replace the show chrysanthemums this year, they are a
bit messy to wash.

Ugh! There was a property here with fake flowers in the yard.
They were quite noticeable, and thus unappealing. I confess that
I do have some fake vines adorning one of my indoor statues, and I
rather like the jungle-like effect.
