I'm another resident of Ottawa, although I don't consider myself trapped here. I posted once before on reasons why I love Ottawa, but one of them is the fact that I get to see Mary Jane Lamond, Laura Smith and Ferron on the same stage this weekend!

Shan,
are you pissed off, or is it your loafers that are upset that the little critters smell like the Unicentre on a Thursday morning???

Robin,
I wouldn't really say "hick country", but it is pretty close to the real thing. :)

I know, Iknow!!! I miss it terribly really....I've been gone for a year and a half now. I had the bad luck to fall in love with an American <and male ;/ > so, ended up down here. I'm not sure if I will move back to B.C. or not, but the Seattle area is looking mighty fine to me about now..so does that count? ;) So anyway, what area are you from? I grew up in the Merritt/Kamloops area. Maybe next time I go up to visit my family and friends, I should let you know, and we can say hi...I haven't had the good fortune to meet any asl'ers in real life yet. ;)

Ohhhh, fab, another Brit!!! Thanks for delurking Tira. So what part of London are you in? (Oh sorry, I dangled another participle, it was utterly unintentional.) I'm in Swindon, only an hour and a half fm London.
So Tigger and I are thinking of getting all the UK aslers together. In fact I'll start a new thread about it in a minute, but do you fancy joining in?
I'm trying to figure out this last line...does this make you a triped? or an evenmoreped? do you have an extra spot for shoes that I'm overlooking...like on your ears or something? Joules can testify that I am prone to wear a tutu - or even a tuba on my head, but I've been known to draw the line at shoe-shoes-shoe-shoes....
sorry about that...i'm still shagged out after an extra-hugely filled weekend...
so...where do you lurk....in the local and actual sense, Laura? would I know you if I saw you? I tend towards The Bookstore, Specialty Video, uh...gosh, I know I get out more than that....the i.net.cafe sometimes...But I'm in Artemis Singers, which tends to occupy a lot of my time,,,and I work sort of wierd hours, so I'm usually out and about at different times than most folks...

Thank you for clearing this up! I was trying to vote in my head for a split personality, partners posting together, or someone who posts by two names and wanted to clear the confusion...or whatever else my behind-on-sleep brain could throw at me! In this state, it can come up with some doozies!
Wich means, maybe I am awake dreaming I am asleep!?
Or more likely, maybe I am asleep, dreaming that I am awake... wondering if I am dreaming!...
I just can t believe that my server allows me to read asl board again, so better not to hold my breath... I am very happy to see that a few people I met here, are still around, as I have trouble quoting one name after the other, I would just like to send you all an enourmous hug, and to go with it... a few "beijinhos"! :) It s really nice to be here after.... wow, almost a year!!! I am not sure how often I can hang on here, if my server will allow me to post further, so I am wondering if wouldn t it be too much to ask, if you could list me up with you on asl s "Who s who on asl '97"? Okay... here goes me:

i work a lot, and have quite a few volunteer obligations, but do try to make it out into the neighborhood when i can. (usually with a stroller...) tonight i was at kopi, and last night at coffee chicago for meetings with other horizon's volunteers. except for artemis, i also frequent the places you mentioned, and many of the restaurants along clark. would you recognize me? i dunno. i was on the cover of windy city times two weeks ago, so maybe. (http://www.wctimes.com/97/0508/moms.html) otherwise i would doubt it.

This doesn't mean what I think it means...another attack of python humor that I will only decipher part of?? But, hey, what I get, I get! My son's tiger, Tabbs, was attacking my throat, stopped at a traffic light the other day (we didn't have a bunny handy) and he and I had fits of giggles.
