the 40% pay cut I have bravely demanded from my employer (oh boy, can I
afford this email account??)!
Hi Sammi -
Sorry to tell you this, but the 40% pay cut is essential. History tells us
that artists must starve for their art. I hope you have a squalid garrett
somewhere to starve in....
Cheers!

Thanks!! I dunno, paint is funny like that. I tend to get paint all over my face, and then merrily wonder off to the shops or out to meet people without realising that I have a lovely slash of cerulean blue decorating my cheek. Still, if getting more colourful shoes or inventing usual make up fashions is the price to pay for passionate art, I say it's worth it!

"Cheers", you say! Easy for you and your 100% - what am I going to buy my drink with! <teasing smile>. Ah well, I won't really be *starving*, so that's OK. But you know, not all great artists are/were poor and suffering - look at Rubens - led a luxurious lifestyle, socialised with royalty (dubitable benefit, that one), had hoards of assistants, and left behind some rather lovely gifts for our enjoyment! However, I guess if I don't suffer materially, I should probably suffer emotionally or something to make sure I have sufficient inspiration for my hauntingly beautiful work (all yet to be created, mind you). I think I have some good raw materials on that score <phew, I think>.
