No not this time Linda, I got to see one of the head honcho's so they musta
thought it was something interseting... He said it was some benign crystal
formation in the inner ear ( to do with balance) and he wanted me to come in
as a day patient and have a battery of tests, and hopefully have the
crystals moved about and hopefully the dizzyness resolved.. The dog is OK
with the dizzy spells and thinks it's a great new game, I fall, well...
lower myself gently to the floor when I have forgottoen and inclined my head
suddenly and produced said dizzy spell, and he comes running round and tries
to lick my face. I just lay there for a minute and laugh at him and play
with him for a few minutes before resuming normal activity, he loves
it.....
I must say that on the first morning of the dizzyness it came on so suddenly
and laid me out with such speed I did think it might be time for me to
depart on the long dark journey, my only emmotion then was one of anger. I
thought... OH bugger, here I am enjoying life more than I ever have and it's
time to go.. Well luckily it wasn't and I can keep bothering you all for a
while longer yet :-)
I think the quack is gonna do some tests for MS, I can't recall if I heard
him say that or one of the other of his retinue let it slip........ Maybe
not, I will just have to wait and see... I said to him that I was more or
less functional as long as I rmember not to do any pole vaulting or snow
boarding till he sorts me out, and with that he let me home to await his
call in for day case investigations.
I hope your doing OK Linda, at least the Calif temps will start to get more
human now uh.....

he thinks you are doing this just for him, of course. *grin*
I never heard of crystals in your inner ear. <puzzled look>

oh yes, it is much cooler over here than it was in the valley. and
prettier too. Don say's it is still running 110 around there. ick.
I've been reading alt.support.diabetes and I'm finding out all sorts of
things. I even check my bg about six to eight times a day. (just for now
to see what affects me the worst) my fasting bg in the morning runs
around 149 to 170 or so. Then I eat something simple like cereal with
just a tad of sugar and tea with half sugar and half splenda. And an
hour later it spikes to over 300. Heck, even a piece of toast with a
small amount of butter and water took me up to 210. And it takes a long
time coming down. I think that is due to the gastroparesis or whatever
that's called. when my stomach doesn't empty properly. Something about
neuropathy of the sphincter in the stomach or some such thing. I'm sure
you know about that stuff being in the field and all. The medicine for
the emptying isn't supposed to be long term though. Anyway, what
they're telling me is that I need to see someone asap because the spikes
are very dangerous. I can't see a VA doctor now until about six months
because of the move so I may look into medicare. If anyone takes it
around here. I'm supposed to see an endocrinologist not a GP. I hope
they'll take me in without a referral.
