There was some discussion lately about the WWII-era short story
that inspired the movie Behind the Green Door. I've found a
copy of the story and posted it to ASSM. It's quite good, as a
number of you said it would be--explicit but not vulgar, no
literary masterpiece but very readable.

Moving from the sublime to the ridiculous, I've also located and
reposted a story called Sex With Satan, by someone named Psyco.
It dates from c. 1984, and involves Lita Ford, the late Wendy O.
Williams (both in nonsexual bit parts), cheerleaders that stick
to the floor when they do splits, and teenage boys that get
their dicks caught on fire. It's a very entertaining story.
Really.

Anyway, enjoy these two pieces. I'll have a few of my own (some
more Ultima stories, a Nethack story, and some original stuff)
posted soon.

O Christine:

Many thanks for posting "Behind the Green Door." I saw a copy in the
1950s, circulating in South Korea. As I remember it, though, the
version I saw was slightly different -- but I can't say which is
closer to the original or even which version is better.

I've also heard of -- but not seen -- a gay male version.

Did you fight in the Korean War?

The story's prolly been knocked around and added to so many
times that we may never know what the original was like. I
think of it more as a folk tale than anything else.

(BTW, does anyone else know anything else about the story, or
its possible origins? I estimated the c. 1940 date that I put
on the header from Green Door's section in Cult Movies, which
describes the story as being taken from a pamphlet that
circulated around barracks in WWII.)

That must be the version that's listed in Nifty's Missing
Stories list. I'll have to look for that one and post it.

The only one I remember at all is the Marilyn Chambers XXX version
which, incidentally, included one brief gay male scene, if I recall
correctly. Then again, I haven't been around quite THAT long...
