Tijuana is a Mexican City, just sound of San Diego commonly known for
its prostitutional tolerance. One of the best ways to get into
Tijuana is to take the San Ysidro trolley that leads right to the
border. Once across the border, one would just follow the crowd
across the bridge leading directly to the border.

The environment in Mexico can be quite dangerous. American's are
specifically targeted and predators are abound. Upon entry into Mexico
an American's chances of being robbed rises by over 200 times the
normal rate. In fact, this very writer was even robbed by a cop in
Mexico, if you can believe that. Do not bring more money than you are
prepared to lose.

Some examples of current dangers found in Mexico:
If an individual approaches you acting as a 'pimp' or 'seller', step
away and leave. He's just a con artist as this is a very common
tactic in Mexico. The girls in Mexico work for themselves and this is
enforced by the police, they have no need for pimps.

If a girl is walking around and isn't just leaning against a side
wall, doorway, or is in a bar, she is very likely an unlicensed
worker. Although a greater potential for sex without a condom, it
also means that she isn't tested, or has been tested and has failed
the test. This could be a potential AIDS (or otherwise) infected
girl. Licensed working girls in Mexico undergo weekly tests and their
permit is an indication of safe testing.

After dark, it is not advised to leave the zone designated for
'tourist fun'. This area is usually around Revolution Street and the
immediate surrounding areas. One way to distinguish the tourist areas
is that the 'off areas' tend to be dark and quiet from lack of lights
and music. If you leave the area, you are likely to be detained and
even robbed by the police themselves (surprise surprise).

Is recommended that if you are detained and questioned by the police
to be cooperative. Allow a search if asked (you do not have the right
to refuse here). If things go well, you may just be threatened a bit
and be out a few bucks. If it goes better, you may actually be left
with enough money to get back safely. There are news articles
available regarding people who have disappeared in Mexico after they
had been uncooperative with police. Interviewees in Mexico (such as
taxi drivers and such) report that this behavior is common in Mexico,
even by police with common mexican citizens.

A taxi driver may try to cheat you too, be sure to ask the price quote
up front if you use a taxi. A ride from the border to the red light
district normally costs about $5, and this is the inflated price. You
may wish to sit in the front of the taxi like other mexican citizens
as it may help to show that you didn't just get in off the turnip
wagon.

It isn't all that uncommon for thugs to hang out around the bridge
that goes to the 'entertainment area' from the border crossing. Luck
crossers may only receive a good beating as they take your wallet.

Revolution street is the tourist area and the taxi driver will know it
well. If you speak spanish, this is very helpful. Communication here
is extremely important as it helps to diminish the likelihood of your
being cheated, but probably not by much when it comes down to it.

Mexicans appear to be quite justified in robbing an American. After
all, the common American appears quite rich to the common Mexican,
loaded with all sorts of unnecessary toys and wealth and comes across
the border only to take advantage of the Mexican's poor conditions,
cheap labor, and desperate position.

Should you choose, it is not a long walk to the 'entertainment' sector
from the border. Looking west, you would see a very large arch in the
air, that's it. Walking toward it, you would come up on a bridge and
cross it. Keep heading toward the arch, you'll be there in no time at
all. Try to walk with other people present when on the bridge.

Most suckers, I mean tourists, go to the clubs. Although the clubs
are interesting, if you are just looking for a bit of tail, you are
certainly paying much more than required. Clubs are good for titty
dances and drinks, but isn't the place to get good dollar value on
sex. Drinks are usually around $7.00 (dollars, not pesos), and a
bottle of water would go for around $3.00. Drinks for girls cost
more, and to going to a room to get laid would likely cost around
$100.

The working 'street' girls are found on Constitution Street, just off
1st Street (near the Chicago club). Here, the girls standing on the
side of the street are there soley to pick up Johns (or be picked
up). They are waiting to serve. Traditional sex can be found here as
low as almost $5.00 on some occassions. The more common price would
be around $10 or $20 though. Again, spanish is helpful here. Raising
the price and asking for more may get you more. The $20 special
involves a very quick drop of the pants to put it in the hole and it
basically stops there. If you know how to ask for it, you can get
full service, about a half hour, completely naked, caressing, etc. for
about $40. You may even ask if she has a friend and get two for $40
each. Depends on what you can communicate and what you are willing to
pay.

On this same street, there appear to be two types of girls. The more
common one is kind of shy. These are often the young ones, not
enjoying their job too much, just want the money and get it over
with. If you can communicate, you may find the other type. The one
that understands her job is that of an entertainer and actress.
Smiling, being friendly, enjoying the time spent, and is comfortable
to spend time with you. Make sure your intents are clear and perhaps
you may get what you are looking for. Girls in this area range from
about a 3 to a 9.
