I made myself a lovely `Indian Cotton` shirt. It is a soft cloth with
some machinal embroidered flowers. I made a shirt for me , than one
for a friend , and than i thought i might somehow squeeze a third one
for another friend,, in this materials i usually finish the shoulder
seam with a French seam. I happily sewed it and when folding it ,,
noticed that the shoulder seam was inside out ,,, brrrrrrr ripping it
is hard the cotton softly woven will unravel ,,,,,, so What should i
do ,,, as i had to go to an apointment of sorsts i took some threads
with me and while waiting embroidered a lace of sorts over the upside
down seam ,,,,, the shirt now looks very nice ,,

Mirjam, I've been looking through the fiber art page you listed in one
of your posts. Today has been a perfect day to do it. We are having rain
and gray weather so I feel that I have lots of time to enjoy your work
and writings. I still have a lot to see but feel that at least I've made
a start. Thanks for posting the site.

I worried too much about making everything TOTALLY PERFECT and
flawless and overplanned. So if something didn't work-out as planned,
I perceived it as being "ruined" or a piece of junk. Also, when I was
young, there were sometimes when middle-aged adults tried to "cure" me
of being "odd" and I ended-up feeling freaky and ashamed that I would
rather make/adapt my own clothes instead of looking like the models in
the teen magazines.

Fortunately, I'm feeling a lot better now! ;-D

In our Culture there is a wonderful story , about a man who comes to a
tailor for a new
suit, and the tailor invites him time and again for more fittings. At
the end the man gets sick
of it, and says to the tailor : "listen , what do you need so much
time and fittings, Afterall God made the world in 7 days !!!" 'AHA "
said the tailor "And look how unperfect that is !!!"
And on the other hand we also have a tradition that Only God makes
perfect things ..
Dear Erin , we are not perfect , why should our creations be
perfect ?
As long as you did YOUR BEST ,, it is perfect !!!!
And others telling you not to be Odd ,,,, don`t mind them ,, An
aquaintance of mine once said to me :"You Dress like my mother used to
dress !!! without hestitance i answered, "I am sure your mother had a
Wonderful taste !!!!
I think fashions clothes etc,, should be fun our fun ,,,,
ENJOY yours Erin ,,
[ as long as i don`t offend anybody beliefs etc,,, ]

Thank you for the complement on my name.
The name comes from Roman mythology, She was Jupiter's wife and queen of
the goddess. She was a rather mean and vindictive person. I hope my
parents didn't realize that when they named me. To add to it, my middle
name is Regina. So that makes me Juno the Queen.LOL The name was chosen
because my mother wanted to name me after my father, His name was John
and she was not fond of the name Joanne, Joan or any other name she
found close to John. She decided on Juno because it had 3 of the 4
letters found in John. The Regina was chosen because she wanted to use
the first letter of her grandmother's name, Rachael.
Now I'd like to know the meaning of your name, Mirjam.
I would also like permission to email you privately, to ask some other
things of you, that do not pertain to the group.

I had a friend who used to say about her (very beautiful) tailoring:
'Only Allah is perfect, but this is verging on perfection'. :D And
another who used to say that even Coco Chanel had thread ends inside her
jackets.

Juno ,,
thank you for this lovely and lively explanation!!!
Of course i was aware about that Roman Godess , but thought maybe
there was another meaning to it, as well ..
My Maternal Grandmother , who was murdered in Auschwitz was also
called Regina,, and so was her Sister in law, [murdered in Sobibor] .
Rachel our Mother is one of my favorite biblical ladies !!!!

Mirjam , was the sister of Moshe [ i spell it the Dutch way] , she was
a poet , a dancer and a prophetess. The name means Their Rebellion ,,,
but it allso has IAM =Sea in Hebrew.
OF COURSE you can email me privately !!!!!

In mountain bike racing, the classification of female racers who, by
virtue of weight and/or height, fall outside the standard anorexic
whippet build is known as "Juno" or "Athena", which is better, IMO, than
the male version known as "Clydesdale".

I enjoy the fact that by this standard, if no other, I am, in fact, a
goddess.

Mirjam, I am honored to carry the same name as your grandmother and your
aunt. I will contact you Sunday. I expect to be switched to cable access
tomorrow and think it best to wait until I know what changes will occur
in my email address.

Welcome to Goddesshood, Kathleen. If I were a bike racer, I would also
fit the classification. Not a skinny place on my body.

You are Welcome , to write ask. Alas i never knew my Grandmother and
great aunt, i only have a few photos and letters from before my birth.
But both were great in their craft . My mother told me her Mother
Crocheted wonderfully and indeed i have a photo of her in an Exuisit
crocheted shirt. The Great Aunt was a Master Embroiderer . This i
learned Years later when i curated the exhibition " Fabrics Remember".

Rachel was also the name of a very lovely Hebrew Poetress ,,
