I ordered some of each of these:
http://tinyurl.com/fuchsia-fabric
and
http://tinyurl.com/jade-fabric

to make spring jackets.

Site says : "70% poly, 25% rayon, 5% Lycra, "Dry Clean"

I'm not all that keen on dry cleaning, so I just serged the
ends, and the fuchsia is in the washer on "delicate" cycle,
cold wash-cold rinse. I'm going to machine dry on the
lowest heat setting, and check every few minutes to check
when it's dry, take it out and see what it looks like. If
it's totally wrinkled and bunched up, I'll take it to the
cleaners for a good press and then leave the jade piece
alone.

The fabric is lovely, nice hand and weight, similar to the
paisley I made into a jacket a few years back.

BTW, I ordered 2.5 yards, and pre-wash the fuchsia piece
measured 2 yards and 26 inches. Pretty generous cutting!

It came out of the dryer perfectly smooth, nary a wrinkle in
sight. Yay! I'm going to make one jacket up unlined and
give it another washer test to be sure, but I think this
fabric is just what I was looking for. :-)

Hurray! I, too, hate dry cleaning, and don't buy anything that needs it
anymore. (Being old and cantankerous has its perks.) Lots of companies
specify dry cleaning without good reason, other than not wanting to deal
with complaints about the results of careless washing. I use those
color collector sheets with new dark fabrics, or brilliant colors, since
my husband isn't keen on pink socks.

The fuchsia turned out to be a bit brighter (hot pink,
anyone?) than I was hoping for. I have ordered some iDye
from Dharma, I'm going to see if I can tone it down.

If it doesn't hold the dye, <shrug> nothing ventured nothing
gained. I'll keep searching for a dark raspberry suiting
fabric.

I just wash it in the deep side of my old sink.
